As a lifelong Dragon Ball fan, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming series, Dragon Ball Daima! Having grown up with Goku and his friends, it’s truly heartwarming to know that Akira Toriyama, the man behind it all, was heavily involved in this project before his passing.
The last Dragon Ball anime series that Akira Toriyama was involved with prior to his demise, titled Dragon Ball Daima, has officially been given a release date. As announced by Fuji TV on Monday, this series will air every Friday at 11:40 PM starting October 11 in a new broadcast slot.
In an unusual turn of events, the opening episode of this series is set to run for ten more minutes than its standard length. This extraordinary anime will debut during a unique event taking place on October 6th. Notably, the Dragon Ball Daimatsuri event, happening at Tokyo Big Sight, will host cast members in two out of the three scheduled screenings.
Akira Toriyama’s Last Dragon Ball Project
The upcoming “Daima” will mark the final Dragon Ball series where Akira Toriyama had significant influence, as he contributed extensively to its story and character designs. When this project was initially unveiled at New York Comic Con 2023, Toriyama hinted at his participation by releasing a statement.

The title is “Dragon Ball DAIMA”.
The fictional term “DAIMA” can be written as “大魔” in Japanese and roughly translated to English as “Great Evil” or simply “Evil” for short.
Due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned small.
In order to fix things, they’ll head off to a new world!
It’s a grand adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world.
Because Goku is small, he fights using his Power Pole, a technique rarely used lately.
I came up with the story and settings, as well as a lot of the designs.
I’m actually putting a lot more into this than usual!
Things will unfold that close in on the mysteries of the Dragon Ball world.

Toei Animation and A-1 Pictures are responsible for the creation of Daima. Masako Nozawa will once again lend her voice to the character of Goku, but at this point, no other voice actors have been announced to rejoin the cast.
Yoshitaka Yashima from “Dragon Ball Super” and Aya Komaki from “One Piece” will be in charge of direction, with Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru taking care of adapting Akira Toriyama’s character designs. Yuuko Kakihara known for her work on “Digimon Adventure tri.” is responsible for the scriptwriting.
The show centers around its characters who have been rejuvenated, a concept reminiscent of GT, but Daima is poised to offer a unique narrative. Additionally, three new characters – Pansle, Glorio, and Gomah – will make their debut in Daima. At this point, not many details have been disclosed about them, but as the release date approaches, more information is expected to surface.
