One intriguing way to rephrase the given text could be: “Dragon Ball”, an iconic shonen anime, holds a special place in the hearts of many, as it served as a gateway into the captivating world of creative storytelling for numerous fans. The series is renowned for its magical orbs, which hold the power to resurrect individuals following their premature demise.
In Dragon Ball, it might appear that death holds no significance, but quite the contrary is true. Powerful characters within the series have perished, now dwelling in the afterlife with slim chances of returning.
1 Cell
Killed By: Son Gohan
- Death:Save the World (Episode 191 of Dragon Ball Z)
In the anime series “Dragon Ball,” Cell is one of the most captivating villains, initially appearing as an incomplete being that needs to assimilate Android 17 and 18 to achieve his ultimate form. His relentless pursuit of perfection adds an engaging twist to his character, as he engages in intense battles against both Goku and Gohan during the Cell Games.
Upon returning after self-destructing, he wounds Gohan’s arm, appearing to be in control during their beam duel. Yet, Gohan refuses to surrender and unleashes all his energy in a final burst, annihilating every cell of this bio-android, rendering it unconscious.
2 Kid Buu
Killed By: Son Goku
- Death:Spirit Bomb Triumphant (Episode 286 of Dragon Ball Z)
The ruthless demeanor of Kid Buu made him one of the most formidable adversaries within the realm of Dragon Ball Z. His initial act as a malefactor was to annihilate the entire Earth, later advancing to the Planet of the Kais where he locked horns with the remaining heroes in an ultimate showdown.
In this confrontation, it becomes evident to the Saiyan that he must employ his signature move, the Spirit Bomb, to finally eliminate this adversary. Upon receiving an energy surge from Porunga, Goku bids farewell before unleashing the Spirit Bomb at Kid Buu, ensuring his permanent defeat.
3 Goku Black
Killed By: Future Zeno
- Death:With New Hope in His Heart – Farewell, Trunks (Episode 67 of Dragon Ball Super)
In the “Dragon Ball Super” series, the Future Trunks storyline begins with a chilling opening as Bulma perishes in this distorted timeline. Here, Goku Black and Zamasu pursue their Zero Mortals scheme. Initially, Goku and Vegeta struggle against him during their initial battle, but after rigorous training, they prove their dominance in the rematch.
Unphased, I found myself merged with Zamasu, creating a corrupted entity. This semi-immortal form began disintegrating following Future Trunks’ intense Spirit Bomb-empowered sword strike. Luckily, I pressed the button bestowed by Zeno to summon an entity from another timeline, who swiftly eliminated Zamasu in one decisive blow.
4 Future Zamasu
Killed By: Future Zeno
- Death:With New Hope in His Heart – Farewell, Trunks (Episode 67 of Dragon Ball Super)
In the anime series “Dragon Ball Super”, Future Zamasu is one of the most evil antagonists. After Future Trunks had eliminated the Android menace in his timeline, Zamasu returns with a fresh onslaught. His disdain for mortals runs deep, and he views them as inferior. He devises an intricate scheme that leaves viewers with goosebumps.
It’s quite spectacular to see Trunks tear him apart and Zeno eliminate him. Later, when Beerus finds out about Zamasu’s malicious plans, he promptly challenges this deity and swiftly defeats him instantaneously.
5 Raditz
Killed By: Piccolo
- Death:A Life or Death Battle! Goku and Piccolo’s Desperate Attack! (Episode 3 of Dragon Ball Z)
In Dragon Ball, the appearance of Raditz uncovers several shocking truths. It’s revealed that Goku is an extraterrestrial from another planet, sent to Earth for conquest, but due to his brother handling the dirty work, he loses his memory. Naturally, Goku opposes this and allies with his former foe Piccolo to combat Raditz.
In this intense battle, the pair soon discover that Raditz is significantly more powerful than they initially thought. Fortunately, Piccolo unleashes a unique attack, striking both Raditz and Goku simultaneously. Despite being weaker compared to other characters in the series, Raditz turned out to be an unexpectedly formidable adversary for Goku and Piccolo at the beginning, largely because of their significant difference in power levels.
6 Nappa
Killed By: Vegeta
- Death:Lesson Number One (Episode 29 of Dragon Ball Z)
Similar to Raditz, Nappa’s combat abilities were relatively weak compared to future antagonists, but his threat to Earth was unquestionable. In those moments, the destruction Nappa wrought on the Z Warriors was intense, despite Gohan landing a few effective blows. Fortunately, just when it seemed all hope was lost, Goku intervened at the last possible second, proving that Nappa stood no chance against him.
Vegeta finds it unbearable to work with someone he perceives as weak, swiftly defeating Nappa once Nappa fails to overcome Goku and can no longer battle effectively. This harsh scene underscores the disparity between Goku’s and Vegeta’s mindsets, paving the way for one of anime history’s most epic confrontations.
7 Dabura
Killed By: Majin Buu
- Death:Meal Time (Episode 235 of Dragon Ball Z)
Initially, Demon King Dabura shows great strength, matching Gohan in combat and nearly overpowering the Saiyan. Yet, following the appearance of Majin Buu, it became evident that Dabura’s abilities were no longer needed by Babidi or his minions.
Following an insult from Majin Buu, which led to Dabura’s defeat, it’s evident that the Demon King’s time is running out. Just one powerful blast from this monster reduced Dabura to a crumbly cookie that was eagerly consumed by Buu.
8 Android 16
Killed By: Cell
- Death:Cell Juniors Attack! (Episode 184 of Dragon Ball Z)
16, who may not be perfect as an android, exhibits a more human-like character in both the Android and Cell sagas compared to his fellow androids. He harbors affection for the world and is determined to prevent it from being destroyed by Cell. In a crucial moment, he offers Gohan the motivation he needs to achieve his Ascended Super Saiyan form with his heartfelt words of encouragement.
Without a doubt, Android 16 was a formidable figure capable of standing his ground in combat when Cell hadn’t merged with either android yet. However, Perfect Cell proved to be an adversary that Android 16 couldn’t conquer. Right up until the end, he bore a hopeful grin on his face, only for Cell to crush his visage and bring an end to Android 16’s mechanical existence.
