From the beginning of Dragon Ball Super onward, the true extent of power within the multiverse has been revealed. Prior to this segment of the franchise, Goku was generally considered the most potent fighter in the universe, with his Super Saiyan 3 transformation marking the pinnacle of his strength. Yet, the advent of Dragon Ball Super shifted everything significantly.

As Beerus awoke and the Gods of Destruction and Angels were unveiled, Goku and the other Z-Fighters found themselves in awe of their superior strength. Beerus towered over them in power, with an advantage so vast it was like a child playing with toys. However, the gap in strength between him and the Saiyans would narrow significantly when they managed to unlock their Divine Transformations. It remains to be seen if they will ever reach Beerus’s level of power, if that day comes at all.

When Dragon Ball Z concluded, I found myself witnessing the emergence of one of the two most formidable mortal beings in the universe – Super Saiyan 3 Goku. Admittedly, Vegetto and Buuhan surpassed him greatly due to their combined powers, but when it came to individual strength, only Ultimate Gohan could keep pace with the Super Saiyan 3 Goku. Yet, upon Beerus’ grand entrance, even the mighty Super Saiyan 3 Goku seemed insignificant in comparison.

Everyone was taken aback because it was the change seen in the mightiest Saiyan, who had vanquished the universe’s deadliest antagonist, Kid Buu. This brief display of Beerus’ prowess made it clear to Dragon Ball fans that the entire scenario was on the verge of a significant shift. It became evident that Goku and his companions needed to significantly enhance their abilities if they were to have any hope of surviving. At this point, Super Saiyan God was introduced, but even in its most intense battle against Beerus, it was far from matching his power level.

As a die-hard Super fan, I can’t help but imagine how future power-ups and transformations might unfold in the series. While many fans have long speculated that Goku and Vegeta would eventually reach Beerus’ level of power, this hasn’t come to pass yet. But when Goku tapped into his Ultra Instinct form, mastering an angelic technique long thought unattainable by even the mighty Beerus, fans were ecstatic! However, as thrilling as that moment was, it didn’t quite make Goku equal to Beerus in strength. Though Ultra Instinct is a feat that even Beerus himself could never achieve, there’s still room for growth on the Saiyan’s part.

To put it simply, despite how powerful Goku’s Ultra Instinct and Vegeta’s Ultra Ego have become due to their Divine Transformations, they are not yet on par with Beerus’ abilities. This was suggested in Chapter 103 of the manga when Beerus made this observation during a fight between Goku and Gohan using their strongest forms, showing little interest in their battle.

Destruction isn’t in the cards for someone that straight-laced!

It is clear that Beerus does not regard their power as significant enough for his notice. While some thought that Gohan in his new Bestial form might be the one foretold by the Oracle Fish, prophesying the emergence of the strongest mortal in Universe 7, Beerus’ indifferent response to his power suggests that this may not have been the case and that our heroes are still far from matching up to him.

Above all, Beerus primarily serves as a plot device in Super, serving as a means to gauge the power levels of Goku and Vegeta. If they miraculously reach Beerus’s level, it will likely occur at the climax of the series, after all other challenges and adversaries have been overcome. For now, it appears that Black Frieza is the character who could potentially offer some resistance to Beerus, given that his recent power-up was sufficient to knock out Goku and Vegeta in their most powerful forms with a single blow.

How Goku And Vegeta Can Match Beerus Right Now

Fusion Is The Only Way To Decrease The Gap

At present, Goku and Vegeta can significantly narrow the power gap with Beerus only by using the fusion technique. In the show “Super”, when Vegito and Gogeta first appeared, fans argued about whether they surpassed Beerus in strength, but looking back, it’s evident that even though they were the strongest mortals in Universe 7 at their series introduction, they weren’t on par with Beerus who was a Destroyer.

If Saiyans were to fuse at this moment, things could take a new turn. With Goku and Vegeta being multiplied thousands of times stronger than their initial strength, they possess Ultra Instinct for defense and Ultra Ego for offense – two unparalleled abilities in the series. By combining these Divine Techniques and the power surge from fusion, they might now have a realistic opportunity to compete with Beerus.
