The game titled “Dying Light: The Beast” is scheduled for release this summer, marking a new phase in the saga of the popular open-world zombie game which has been around for a decade. Known for its significant contributions to the genre, Dying Light’s impressive run will continue with the launch of the independent title, “The Beast.
As an enthusiastic admirer, I’ve stumbled upon an intriguing piece of information! In a recent chat, Tymon Smektała, the mastermind behind the Dying Light franchise, dropped a hint about a hidden gem in the original trailer for Dying Light: The Beast. Apparently, he suspects that no one has managed to uncover it as yet.
Easter Eggs
In a recent interview with The Thumb Wars, Tymon Smektała proposed an intriguing theory about the location of Castor Woods, the game map, being concealed within an easter egg in the game’s initial trailer. He explained that it’s a subtly placed text fragment, written in a dialect, which offers clues as to where Castor Woods can be found on a map.
Here’s the trailer, in case you want to go egg hunting:
As an enthusiastic viewer, I’ve gone over each frame of the trailer meticulously, but I haven’t spotted a distinctive dialect that gives away the location of Castor Woods.
As I traverse this foreign cityscape, it’s clear I’m in a land that speaks my language – English no less! Signs and storefronts abound, from safety warnings on generators to the emergency number on the back of police cars. It seems like another exhilarating European adventure is unfolding before me. Yet, the architecture here leaves me puzzled; it’s a mix of styles that I can’t quite place.
In the initial game, Harran served as the focal point and was modeled after real-world cities such as Istanbul, Mumbai, and Wroclaw, creating a fictional Middle Eastern metropolis. In Dying Light 2, players delve into Villedor, another imagined city that draws inspiration from various European locales, including Germany, Belgium, and Poland. Essentially, Villedor is a blend or ‘combination’ of these cities.
It seems plausible to me that the game Dying Light: The Beast takes place in Europe as well, yet I’m having a hard time imagining it on a smaller scale.
Perhaps you can do better – let me know in the comments if you’ve solved the easter egg.
