Elon Musk Revises Lawsuit Against OpenAI & Microsoft

Elon Musk’s revised lawsuit, submitted on November 14, alleges that OpenAI and Microsoft have effectively merged their operations, using their joint market power to suppress competition in the AI sector. The lawsuit alleges that these companies are poaching top AI talent by offering exorbitant salaries, with reports indicating a $1.5 billion investment for a workforce of 1,500 employees.

Significantly, it’s been noted that some OpenAI engineers can make as high as $800,000 per year, factoring in bonuses and stock awards. Additionally, the lawsuit claims that OpenAI actively advised investors against financing competing AI companies during a recent $6.6 billion fundraising round.

Earlier reports suggested that this condition was intended to prevent competitors such as Musk’s xAI from obtaining crucial financial support. However, contradicting these claims, SoftBank – which invested $500 million in OpenAI – has made it clear that they are free to support other AI-related ventures as well.
