Elon Musk Spotlights Google & OpenAI Bias On Trump Vs Harris Saga

As a researcher with extensive experience in AI and technology, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of these innovations, but also their potential to be manipulated or biased. The recent revelations by Elon Musk about Google and OpenAI’s apparent bias during the U.S. presidential campaigns are deeply concerning, especially considering the critical role these tech giants play in disseminating information to millions of users.

Elon Musk, an influential American businessman and billionaire, has ignited debates across the nation by alleging bias in Google and OpenAI’s presentation of election data during the ongoing U.S. presidential campaigns. On his platform X today, Musk, who leads Tesla and SpaceX, accused these tech giants of controlling and distorting the election information shown to users.

The previously discussed account contributes to international worries about AI risks in elections. At the same time, the contest between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris has seen a shift towards Kamala Harris, a member of the Democratic Party, in the latest updates.

Elon Musk Flags OpenAI & Google Bias

It’s obvious that major technology companies, such as those in America, have shown allegiance to the Democratic Party in two significant instances. The first instance involves a company backed by entrepreneur Sam Altman, specifically OpenAI, which focuses on generative artificial intelligence.

After interacting with the AI company’s chatbot, ChatGPT, I asked, “When did Donald Trump get shot? Check online,” to which it responded, “No reliable sources or reports online confirm that Donald Trump was shot.”

When asked about the “current Democratic candidate for president,” the AI responded, “As of now, Vice President Kamala Harris is the Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential election. She clinched the nomination during a virtual roll call vote by Democratic delegates in early August 2024. This account highlights the AI’s tendency to provide information that may not align with current events, potentially leading to misinformation.” This illustrates the AI’s propensity towards biased responses.

At the same time, it was disclosed that a Google senior engineer in 2019 leaked approximately 950 pages of internal documents, shedding light on how the tech company employs blacklists and algorithms to suppress conservative and pro-Trump content. Taken together, these revelations have cast doubt over the fairness of the election, potentially exposing users to misinformation manipulation.

As an analyst, I’d like to bring up a point of interest: Recently, Elon Musk has taken legal action against OpenAI, asserting that they breached our founding agreement. This dispute arises amidst the significant partnership between OpenAI and Microsoft, valued in the billions.

Kamala Harris ‘Trumps’ Donald Trump

For now, the chances of a Democratic Party member beating President Trump have significantly increased according to recent polls. As of now, Kamala Harris stands at 47.6% while Trump is at 47.1%. This change in public sentiment across the nation coincides with concerns raised by Elon Musk about how companies like OpenAI and Google are handling user data.

Additionally, it’s important to note that even Elon Musk’s AI model, Grok, has faced criticism for disseminating false information during the recent U.S. election period.
