According to reports from Bloomberg Terminal, Elon Musk expressed confidence that humans could reach Mars for landing within the next seven years, while a lunar landing was predicted to occur within the next five years based on Musk’s statements.
His confident declarations on Twitter/X have sparked debate among its users. Some skeptics question the feasibility of his forecasts about the imminent future, expressing their doubts in the post’s comment section.
Several people brought up Musk’s past declarations, stating that within the next five years, he predicted humans would establish a self-supporting Martian colony. More recently, Musk, the founder and CEO of SpaceX, expressed his belief that it could take around 20 years for such a Mars settlement to achieve self-sufficiency. Elon Musk’s goal is to make this a reality by sending crews to the Moon and eventually Mars using his reusable space rockets.
DOGE-1 lunar mission for SpaceX
Elon Musk, who’s renowned for his thriving tech business career and significant entrepreneurial drive, also enjoys widespread recognition among cryptocurrency enthusiasts due to his strong affinity for Dogecoin. Consequently, SpaceX has adopted Dogecoin as a payment option for their lunar expeditions.
In 2021, Musk announced via tweet that SpaceX intended to place a physical Dogecoin on the moon. However, it was later revealed that Musk was referring to SpaceX’s plans to launch a satellite into lunar orbit as part of the DOGE-1 mission. For this project, SpaceX received payment in Dogecoin.
Due to various reasons, the mission never took place in 2021 and was delayed. This year, SpaceX accepted another massive Dogecoin payment from the initial customer that ordered this mission to take place – Geometric Energy Corporation (GEC). The new timing for the mission has not been named yet, though.
