As a dedicated researcher with a background in technology and finance, I’ve been closely monitoring the developments within the crypto community, particularly the recent activities of Elon Musk on his X social media platform. I find it fascinating how Musk’s latest post featuring the X logo has sparked excitement among various cryptocurrency communities, especially those supporting XRP and SHIB.

Elon Musk, the proprietor of the widely-used social media site X, recently shared a fresh update which sparked responses from numerous X users, with the cryptocurrency world and the devoted communities of Ripple (XRP) and Shiba Inu (SHIB) among them.

Elon Musk triggers XRP army

Today, Elon Musk shared a brief video featuring the X logo. This post might be a gentle reminder to his followers of the significance of Musk’s $44 investment in Twitter, which he frequently emphasizes as essential for safeguarding free speech.

Crypto enthusiasts were quick to comment on this, with a notable XRP supporter @XRPcryptowolf bringing up the similarity between the X app’s logo and that of XRP coin. This resemblance is one factor fueling the belief among XRP supporters that their favorite crypto could potentially be incorporated into Elon Musk’s social media platform.

The majority of optimistic expectations in this regard come from the Dogecoin community, given Elon Musk’s unwavering support for this initial meme cryptocurrency, which was created in 2013 using the Bitcoin framework.

X keeps moving toward payment integration

Last week, X Payments, a sub-company of X, obtained a Money Transmitter License in an additional US state. Reaching this achievement, they now hold licenses in a total of 29 states.

X aims to become a major player in the online payments sector by enabling fund transfers across the 29 states. Following the acquisition of necessary licenses, X will additionally require separate permissions for handling payments within these same states. It was previously announced on X’s platform that internal payments, including the popular social media feature, would be introduced by the end of this year.

Since its inception, X has enabled users to send tips using cryptocurrencies. In 2021, the co-founder and former CEO, Jack Dorsey, introduced tipping with Bitcoin. A year later, Ethereum tipping was incorporated as well. Following Dorsey’s departure from the CEO position in 2022, Twitter (now rebranded as X) under Elon Musk’s ownership, added a subscription feature enabling content creators to securely receive recurring payments from their subscribers.
