Elon Musk’s Tweet Catches Adam Back’s and DOGE Founder’s Attention

Wealthy tech entrepreneur and creator of over a half dozen groundbreaking companies, such as Twitter/X, Elon Musk, has shared a message that has sparked unease among crypto enthusiasts and X users, along with generating numerous queries.

Crypto influencers, including Blockstream’s CEO and co-founder of Dogecoin, were particularly intrigued by Musk’s latest tweet.

Back and Markus react to Musk’s tweet

Elon Musk revealed that the Twitter/X team plans to deactivate accounts involved in manipulative activities, such as spreading false or misleading information, to preserve free speech while maintaining authenticity on X.

Several cryptocurrency account holders asked for clarification on the term “engagement farming” as it has various meanings. Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus provided his perspective on this concept instead.

He described engagement farming as individuals deliberately posting false information to attract more clicks. Additionally, he proposed barring accounts with significant numbers of deceptive comments from profiting through monetization initiatives on Twitter and X.

If individuals repeatedly fabricate information to attract more clicks, it’s high time for such a rule. Accounts with substantial warnings from the community for intentionally misleading content ought to face demotion of monetization privileges as a minimum.

Adam Back, a key figure in the development of Bitcoin as Cypherpunk and CEO of Blockstream, joined the conversation when Elon Musk raised concerns about impersonation scams on Twitter. Musk had asked if the Twitter team could find a solution to this issue that was getting out of hand. Back echoed Musk’s sentiment, tweeting, “They’re scamming people. It’s rampant.”

How about taking action against the issue of impersonation? They’re not just boosting engagement, they’re deceiving people in a fraudulent way. This problem has gotten out of hand.

One member of the DOGE and X team, identified as “DogecoinDesigner” (@cb_doge) on Twitter, explained what engagement farming is in a subsequent post, followed by a call for community members to share any known X account handles that were attempting this practice.

Elon Musk to support US First Amendment

On Thursday, Musk announced via tweet his plan to financially back a nationwide petition drive in the United States, aiming to uphold the First Amendment which safeguards free speech and press freedoms.

Due to constant threats against freedom of expression, I intend to launch a countrywide petition drive to safeguard the First Amendment.

That day, Musk responded to an interview with Katherine Maher, NPR’s CEO, who expressed her intent to censor content across different media outlets. Her eagerness was evident as she tried to bypass the First Amendment protections.
