Summary
- Peacemaker Season 2 brings back John Cena and familiar characters like Emilia Harcourt, Leota Adebayo, and John Economos.
- Rick Flag Sr., Maxwell Lord, Hawkgirl, and Green Lantern are featured to help tie the series into the larger DCU.
- Fans can expect a multiverse element with the confirmed appearance of another Peacemaker, expanding the character’s role in the new DCU.
Approximately three years following its initial premiere, DC Studios is set to resume the Peacemaker series for a second season. This fresh chapter will further advance the narrative while also integrating the character into the expanding DC Universe (DCU). The new season is scheduled to air on Max on August 21, 2025. It will be the third installment in the interconnected DCU, following projects such as Creature Commandos and Superman.
In the second season of “Peacemaker,” we can expect John Cena’s character, Peacemaker, to return, along with many other familiar faces from the first season, such as his closest friends and accomplices. The upcoming season will also introduce characters from different parts of the DC Universe, including other superheroes, to strengthen the connection between the series and James Gunn’s larger universe.
11. White Dragon
The Worst Father In Superhero History Returns

- Played By: Robert Patrick
In Season 2 of “Peacemaker,” Robert Patrick will reprise his role as Auggie Smith, a man also known as the “White Dragon.” The first season delved into how several harmful characteristics of Christopher Smith’s (Peacemaker) were shaped by his father, Auggie, who was not only cruel and abusive but seemingly more malevolent than the extraterrestrial force aiming to dominate Earth.
In the storyline, Auggie amassed a following as the White Dragon and pursued his own son, eventually leading to Christopher disrupting the pattern of mistreatment by vanquishing the antagonist. Yet, in the final episodes, there’s a hint that Christopher may continue grappling with his father’s ghostly presence, potentially revisiting this theme in Season 2.
10. Maxwell Lord
Corporate Shark On The Lookout For New Heroes

- Played By: Sean Gunn
In the trailer for Season 2 of Peacemaker, viewers were introduced to Sean Gunn’s portrayal of Maxwell Lord, although it has been confirmed that he will initially appear in James Gunn’s Superman film. Interestingly, Pedro Pascal previously played Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman 1984 within the DC Extended Universe, while the current universe is giving significant importance to Sean Gunn’s interpretation of the character.
In the fictional universe of Peacemaker Season 2, Hawkgirl and Green Lantern Guy Gardner, who are part of a less idealistic and more sarcastic team under Lordtech corporation ownership, appear to be scouting for new members. However, Maxwell Lord appears unenthusiastic about Peacemaker, suggesting they may not have a significant role in the series. Similarly to these two characters, their involvement seems limited.
9. Hawkgirl
Isabela Merced Could Become A Justice League Member

- Played By: Isabela Merced
Isabela Merced has starred in several significant franchises, including “The Last of Us” and “Alien: Resurrection”. However, her latest role is within the DC Universe, portraying Kendra Saunders, more famously known as Hawkgirl. She’s set to debut in “Superman”, where she appears among a group of characters who seem to be both allies and adversaries to Superman.
In Season 2 of “Peacemaker,” Hawkgirl is present during Maxwell Lord’s interview with Peacemaker regarding joining their team. Similar to her relationship with Lord, it appears that Hawkgirl will have a limited role. Nevertheless, this indicates that Hawkgirl will feature in the DC Universe beyond the Superman film, which could pave the way for an official Justice League appearance in future projects.
8. Green Lantern
Guy Gardner Is Still A Snarky Jerk Of A Hero

- Played By: Nathan Fillion
Since the release of the film “Slither”, Nathan Fillion has appeared in at least a guest role for almost every production by James Gunn, ranging from “Guardians of the Galaxy” to “The Suicide Squad”. Consequently, it didn’t come as a surprise when he was confirmed to have a part in the DC Universe. However, fans were taken aback as he was cast not as the Green Lantern they had anticipated.
In the second season of “Peacemaker” and the forthcoming Superman film, Nathan Fillion assumes the role of Guy Gardner, a Green Lantern who is notorious for his impulsive and challenging behavior within the Corps. Despite this, he isn’t inherently evil and has proven himself worthy of a Power Ring in the comics. However, his arrogance and fearlessness can sometimes make him overconfident and hard to collaborate with.
7. John Economos
The 11th Street Kids Aren’t The Same Without Him

- Played By: Steve Agee
John Economos, portrayed by Steve Agee, initially appeared in the DC Universe as a brief cameo within the Creature Commandos series. However, he has been a consistent presence in all of James Gunn’s DC productions. His first substantial role was as an integral part of Amanda Waller’s Task Force X program in The Suicide Squad. Later, he was demoted alongside Emilia Harcourt to supervise Peacemaker during their battle against Project Butterfly.
In Season 1, John Economos was a quiet man with a kind soul, which might seem unusual given his past association with Amanda Waller. However, when push came to shove, he demonstrated himself to be an indispensable part of Peacemaker’s team, the 11th Street Kids, despite his history of avoiding violence.
6. Emilia Harcourt
Her Anger Issues Have Her In Therapy

- Played By: Jennifer Holland
It’s clear from the first season that Emilia Harcourt has a complex past that has molded her into a tough and aggressive character, using both her physical strength and sharp words. Her circumstances become even more intricate when she interacts with Peacemaker, who initially displays blatant misogyny. However, as the story unfolds, there’s a growth in their relationship, marked by mutual respect. Notably, Harcourt is responsible for setting up the group chat among the main characters on 11th Street.
In Season 2 of “Peacemaker”, Harcourt undergoes therapy sessions, possibly to address her anger problems, offering a chance for deeper insights into her past. Last we saw Harcourt was in the “Black Adam” film, overseeing a Task Force X Black Site where numerous metahumans were detained. However, it remains unclear if those events align with the new DC Universe.
5. Leota Adebayo
The One Who Exposed Amanda Waller’s Evil

- Played By: Danielle Brooks
Initially, Economos and Harcourt were quick to criticize Peacemaker, doubting both his heroic status and personal character. However, it was Leota Adebayo who, among ARGUS members, made the effort to befriend him. During the first season, Leota stood by Chris’ side throughout the unfolding events, showing unwavering support even when Chris displayed unkind or harsh behavior towards individuals such as John.
As a die-hard film fan, I was thrilled to learn during the initial season that Leota is the offspring of the enigmatic figure, Amanda Waller. Contrary to expectations, Leota didn’t inherit her mother’s icy disposition, much to Amanda’s chagrin. In a heartwarming twist, Leota and her partner, Keeya, have been confirmed for a comeback in Peacemaker Season 2. This is particularly intriguing given that Leota played a crucial role in dismantling the Butterflies and exposing Amanda Waller’s covert wrongdoings to the public eye. This revelation could potentially place her in the crosshairs of Rick Flag Sr. and ARGUS, adding an extra layer of tension to the upcoming season.
4. Rick Flag Sr.
Revenge Will Make Him Into A Villain For Peacemaker

- Played By: Frank Grillo
Frank Grillo has played the character Rick Flag Sr. in both ‘Superman’ and ‘Creature Commandos’, acting as a crucial link between all DCU productions to date. While he was the primary hero in ‘Creature Commandos’, in Season 2 of ‘Peacemaker’, he will assume an opposing role, pursuing the titular character who killed Rick Flag Jr. in ‘The Suicide Squad’.
It’s uncertain whether Rick Flag Sr. will emerge as the primary antagonist for the season or if another adversary will surface, but he is depicted as commanding ARGUS forces against Peacemaker. His personal conflict could potentially serve as a means to reintroduce Rick Flag Jr., played by Joel Kinnaman, in flashback scenes, given his popularity among fans from The Suicide Squad. This could further flesh out Frank Grillo’s character.
3. Vigilante
Comedic And Ultra-Violent Showstealing Sidekick

- Played By: Freddie Stroma
In each episode during the initial season, the character Vigilante, known for his aggressive, eccentric, and somewhat comical behavior, emerged as a captivating figure. This anti-hero was less driven by notions of justice or righteousness, but rather he prioritized bonding with Peacemaker and eliminating criminals. In many ways, he resembled a younger, more reckless version of the Punisher.
In a different phrase, the vigilante was ready to take lives that Peacemaker found himself unwilling to confront, highlighting his chilling sociopathic nature. However, he proved to be a steadfast companion to Peacemaker and eventually bonded with the 11th Street Kids. Freddie Stroma’s portrayal of the character brought about numerous chuckles, an element that is highly probable to continue in the upcoming second season.
2. Eagly
Every Superhero Needs A Loving Pet

- Played By: Dee Bradley Baker
In my opinion, James Gunn possesses an exceptional knack for endearing audiences to CGI creatures, and that was certainly evident with Eagly in the initial season of Peacemaker. Despite its seemingly ludicrous premise, Eagly transformed into more than just a charming character; he became an indispensable ally when Peacemaker and the crew found themselves in dire need.
Initially, fans fretted over Eagly’s well-being after he was hurt by the White Dragon, given how James Gunn often writes off beloved characters. Luckily, Eagly pulled through and can be spotted battling alongside Peacemaker in the Season 2 trailer, to the relief of viewers everywhere.
