Ethereum Co-founder Vitalik Buterin Moves 400 ETH to Crypto Mixer Railgun

As a seasoned researcher with years of experience in the cryptocurrency realm, I find Vitalik Buterin’s latest move to transfer 400 ETH to Railgun quite intriguing. It’s not every day that we see a co-founder of a major blockchain network like Ethereum promoting a privacy-focused tool like this.

Recently, Vitalik Buterin, a key figure in Ethereum, moved 400 ETH worth approximately $1.05 million to a cryptocurrency blender named Railgun. The reason for this transaction is currently unclear, but the crypto community is keeping a close eye on it as the price of ETH hovers near the $2,600 mark.

On previous occasions, Buterin has transferred his ETH to the confidential transaction mixer known as Railgun. As a firm advocate for privacy technologies, Ethereum’s co-founder has recognized Railgun as an efficient means of protecting user privacy in the past.

For approximately ten months, Vitalik Buterin has consistently utilized the platform and moved a total of 662 ETH, equivalent to around $1.91 million, to Railgun in the year 2024. This recent transaction highlights Buterin’s ongoing commitment to privacy-focused technologies within the cryptocurrency industry. Notably, this action follows a previous transfer last week of half a million dollars’ worth of ETH to an unidentified recipient.

Despite significant advancements in Ethereum as a public blockchain network, there remains a strong call for improved user privacy. Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has been actively exploring solutions to address this issue. Initially, he endorsed projects like Tornado Cash; however, following multiple controversies surrounding the crypto mixer, Buterin has since shifted his focus to Railgun.

Buterin and ETH Donations

Vitalik Buterin, one of the Ethereum co-creators, has a track record of making cryptocurrency donations in the past. Recently, he transferred approximately $8 million worth of ETH into a fresh multisignature digital wallet. Beyond his involvement with Ethereum, Buterin has also given away numerous altcoins that were bestowed upon him by various crypto projects.

Meanwhile, Ethereum’s price hovers near $2,600, and daily trading volumes have surged once more, this time by 44%, exceeding $10 billion. Also, there’s been an increase in large investor activity with these ‘whales’ selling over $60 million worth of ETH last week.

It’s intriguing to observe if the bullish trend can maintain the Ethereum price at around $2,600 as a foundation, potentially propelling the ETH market beyond $3,000.
