Ethereum Creator Vitalik Buterin Sells Meme Tokens: Details

As an analyst with over a decade of experience in the blockchain and cryptocurrency space, I have witnessed many intriguing events, but the transactions of Vitalik Buterin always manage to surprise me. The latest news about him selling meme coins for a substantial amount is yet another testament to his influence and the ever-evolving crypto market.

As a researcher delving into blockchain transactions, I’ve discovered an interesting development. According to Lookonchain, Vitalik Buterin, the pioneering mind behind Ethereum, has once more offloaded a substantial quantity of meme coins. The transaction netted him approximately 257.1 ETH, equivalent to around $636,000 at current rates. The meme coins in question include MSTR, POPCAT, ITO, ETH6900, SATO, and Milo.

The Vitalik Buterin-related address reportedly sold 330,000 MSTR for 114.1 ETH or $282,000, 14 million POPCAT for 74.99 ETH or $186,000, 14 billion ITO for 36.55 ETH worth $90,000, 1.05 million ETH6900 for 15.37 ETH worth $38,000, 50.53 billion SATO for 11.34 ETH worth $28,000, 10 billion Milo for 4.77 ETH worth $12,000.

According to Wu Blockchain’s report, there is a possibility that Buterin could donate the funds following this recent development. Notably, Ethereum’s creator recently sold eight meme tokens for approximately $1.61 million in ETH, which included tokens such as MSTR, Milo, POPCAT, TCATI, VITALIK, MOODENG, FWOG, and EBULL.

Over the last seven days, Vitalik Buterin has drawn attention to a meme coin connected with Moo Deng, the renowned Thai baby pygmy hippo, by offering vast quantities of Ethereum-backed tokens in aid of charity.

The creator of Ethereum, unwittingly, obtained 62 billion units of the MOODENG token from its issuer. Later on, they exchanged a large amount of this Ethereum-associated meme currency to finance technology aimed at combating airborne diseases.

Ethereum founder unwillingly gifted crypto assets

Over the course of many years, Buterin’s digital wallet has received numerous, unasked-for digital assets. These could be seen as tokens of gratitude from developers or as a type of guerrilla marketing in disguise.

2021 saw Vitalik Buterin receiving an unexpected gift equal to half of all Shiba Inu coins in circulation. Out of this, he chose to destroy approximately 41 trillion tokens, which equates to about 90% of the donation, and he set aside the remaining 10% for charitable causes.

The individual behind Ethereum’s creation prefers token developers not to send him unrequested cryptocurrency. Although he was willing to contribute the funds towards a worthy cause, he expressed his preference for crypto holdings to be directed directly to charities instead.
