Ethereum Drama: Million-Dollar ETH Dump Shocks Crypto Fans!

So, brace yourselves, dear digital dilettantes: Jeffrey Wilcke, one of Ethereum’s co-founders and apparently a collector of expensive virtual coins, just swiped a casual 79,859 ETH (that’s roughly $158.31 million if you’re still human enough to understand real money) over to Kraken in the last 24 hours. Onchain Lens tracked it all, like a nosy neighbor with a blockchain obsession.

Meanwhile, Ethereum itself is sulking below the $2,000 mark, probably having an existential crisis about being less shiny than it was last week.

After this modest little sale, Wilcke’s wallet now sports a mere 16,037 ETH-roughly $31.66 million-so basically, he’s still living the high life, but with a slightly emptier digital piggy bank.

Of course, none of this is exactly shocking. Since quitting the Ethereum scene in 2019 to chase video game glory, Wilcke has been steadily offloading his early ETH hoard like it’s clearance rack candy. Over the years, he’s already shipped over $500 million worth of Ethereum to Kraken. Remember last May? He casually moved 105,736 ETH (about $262 million at the time). Yawn, just another Tuesday.

And he’s not alone. Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum’s other co-founder, has also been on a liquidation spree. January 2026 saw Buterin announcing the sale of 16,384 ETH to fund what he called an “austerity period” for the Ethereum Foundation-fancy phrasing for “we need cash, stat.” By late February and early March, he’d already sold over 19,300 ETH, around $40 million, presumably while sipping artisanal coffee and thinking about smart contracts.
