Fake Satoshi Craig Wright Drops Defamation Lawsuit In Norway

Five years ago, the controversy surrounding Craig Wright’s claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious creator of Bitcoin, reached its conclusion with the involvement of a Norwegian Bitcoiner. In simpler terms, the long-standing dispute between Craig Wright and the Bitcoin community over his true identity has been resolved after a Norwegian Bitcoiner was involved in the case.

Origin of the Hodlonaut Case

A Norwegian Bitcoiner known as “Hodlonaut” on X announced that Craig Wright has abandoned his legal appeal against him, following nearly five years of litigation initiated over offensive social media comments. Wright, who claims to be the inventor of Bitcoin, filed a lawsuit against Hodlonaut in May 2019 for defamation due to posts accusing him of being a fraud and scammer.

In 2022, after a subsequent trial in Oslo, a Norwegian judge supported Hodlonaut’s stance due to “convincing evidence that Wright had fabricated and deceived during his efforts to prove he is Satoshi Nakamoto,” according to the court decision. This legal action by Hodlonaut aimed to thwart Craig’s defamation lawsuit over the same social media posts in the UK.

Hodlonaut expressed worry over the UK’s legal system that largely favors the plaintiff, potentially leading to significant financial penalties. Instead of accepting the court ruling at that moment, Craig Wright chose to challenge it. After nearly five years, the self-proclaimed Bitcoin inventor has conceded defeat in the case without pursuing further legal action.

“I’ve recently concluded a call with my Norwegian attorney. Craig Wright has abandoned his appeal in Norway. As a result, my victory from 2022 is now definitive and enforceable. This legal proceedings initiated on May 19th, 2019 and ended today. I’m elated by this development! All that remains is to either dismiss or win the ongoing UK case, then I can finally put this behind me.”

Just got off the phone with my Norwegian lawyer.
CRAIG WRIGHT DROPPED THE APPEAL IN NORWAY!
My win from 2022 is now final and enforceable.
This case started May 19th, 2019 and lasted until today.
I’m very happy!
Now I just need to get the UK case dismissed/won and I can…

COPA Secures Major Victory Over Craig Wright

A month after Craig Wright lost a court case challenging his denial of authorship over the Bitcoin Whitepaper, Hodlonaut emerged victorious.

In 2021, the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) accused Wright of not being the true creator of Bitcoin (BTC), with the aim of stopping him from asserting copyright over the Bitcoin whitepaper or using his alleged identity as Satoshi Nakamoto to sue Bitcoin developers or others.

In March, Judge James Mellor made a definitive decision: Australian computer scientist Craig Wright did not pen the Bitcoin Whitepaper. This long-awaited ruling brought an end to the decades-old debate surrounding Wright’s identity as Satoshi Nakamoto.

Although Hodlonaut withdrew his appeal in Norway regarding the dropped defamation lawsuit, a defamation case against him remains active in the United Kingdom.
