Fallout 76’s ‘Milepost Zero’ Will Change How You Play The Game

As a seasoned Fallout enthusiast with countless hours spent exploring the post-apocalyptic wasteland, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the prospect of Milepost Zero. The promise of breaking the monotony and introducing a new dynamic to Fallout 76 is music to my ears.

The upcoming Fallout 76 update, titled Milepost Zero, is now accessible as a pre-release product within the PTS (Public Test Server). Back in July, Bethesda Game Studios unveiled the features of Milepost Zero, but a recent interview with the game’s creative director has shed light on how this extensive update will reshape your gaming experience in Fallout 76.

Breaking the Cycle

In an interview with PCGamesN, the creative director of Fallout 76, Jon Rush, explained the innovative gameplay system introduced in Milepost Zero. For players who have surpassed level 20, there’s a new feature that allows you to establish and manage your own outposts. These outposts function much like a C.A.M.P., offering customization and upgrade options.

After establishing an outpost, you’ll have the opportunity to set up trading routes throughout Appalachia. Alternatively, you can collaborate with other players and assist them in managing their own routes. According to Rush, this design aims to alleviate the repetition of players constantly moving ‘from one event to another event’.

Caravans serve as a continuous activity during downtime or for gathering friends for farming purposes. They break the monotony of “event, wait, event, wait” by keeping the action lively and engaging. The advantage is that you can either join an ongoing caravan to earn rewards or start your own and try to recruit participants.

As a seasoned Fallout enthusiast with countless hours spent roaming the wasteland, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming Milepost Zero update for Fallout 76. The introduction of a repeatable task that allows me to farm resources as often as desired is like a dream come true for someone who has spent countless hours scavenging and exploring the game’s world.
