Final Fantasy 14 Scrambles to Fix Cosmic Exploration Bugs Driving Players Crazy

Summary

  • Square Enix posted an extended list of Cosmic Exploration issues.
  • Known issues with Aetherial Reduction and mech ops were discussed.
  • Final Fantasy 14 will address these issues in a future hotfix.

On April 24th, I, a dedicated Final Fantasy 14 gamer, noticed an update from the game addressing certain player concerns regarding the recently launched Cosmic Exploration feature. This update primarily focused on resolving known issues. In relation to gatherer missions, it was recognized that the instructional text for obtaining specific items using Aetherial Reduction was somewhat vague. They promised to consider some changes in this regard.

In the latest update for Final Fantasy 14, titled 7.21, players can embark on Cosmic Exploration – an exciting new venture that enables crafters and collectors to mine resources and construct a lunar base for future space missions. To access this feature, you must first complete the main story quest “Endwalker” from Patch 6.0. It’s important to note that Cosmic Exploration is only accessible on your home server. By working together on stellar missions as part of a team, you can unlock upgrades for the lunar base. As the Dawntrail updates continue, additional planets will be introduced progressively. If you have a crafter or collector character at level 10 or higher, you’re eligible to join this ongoing endeavor.

As a dedicated fan, I’ve noticed some hiccups in the latest Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.21, particularly with the Cosmic Exploration feature. Square Enix acknowledged these issues in a Lodestone post and assured us they’d be addressed in upcoming patches and hotfixes.

For instance, there seems to be a bug in stellar missions requiring Aetherial Reduction where completing an objective can leave players stuck with open menus. However, Square Enix suggests a workaround by using Stellar Return or Teleport to force the area to reload, which typically closes most menus.

Other issues include timers for mech ops being shorter than displayed on screen and the synthesis of unrelated items during a stellar mission, both of which Square Enix considers as bugs.

Final Fantasy 14 Addresses Known Cosmic Exploration Issues

During a conversation about Final Fantasy 14, it was mentioned that some players had queries about miners and botanists. In certain Mech operations, the actions Prospect and Triangulate may become inactive, potentially due to a hotbar swapping problem. However, players of Final Fantasy 14 can work around this issue by switching classes momentarily and then returning to their miner or botanist role. This action should automatically reactivate Prospect and Triangulate. These actions are crucial for identifying gathering spots and earning Cosmic Exploration rewards upon mission completion.

Square Enix hasn’t provided a specific date for when these problems will be addressed in Final Fantasy 14. With Cosmic Exploration and the Callback Campaign serving as portals for players to re-engage with the game, we’ll have to wait and see how swiftly Square Enix can implement a solution.
