As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve received confirmation from Square Enix about the Nintendo Switch 2 version of “Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade” running at a smooth 30 FPS. With fingers crossed for even better performance, I eagerly await the release of this beloved game on the yet-to-be-released Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement for the Switch 2 port was made back in Spring, long before the console hit the market. Since then, Square Enix has assured us that all three remakes of “Final Fantasy 7” will grace the Switch 2 when the series is finally complete.
The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, launched in June, has been a gaming industry sensation. As the successor to the second best-selling console of all time, it debuted with “Mario Kart World” and “Donkey Kong Bananza,” the latter of which is now being debated as a potential Game of the Year contender for 2025. The Switch 2 boasts improved performance compared to its predecessor, capable of running graphically demanding games like “Cyberpunk 2077” at 40 frames per second (FPS), and less graphically intense games such as “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” at 60 FPS. This performance has sparked hope among fans that the upcoming “Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade” might surpass the standard 30 FPS.
FF7 Remake Intergrade Will Be 30 FPS on Switch 2
Regrettably, for those excited about the Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade, Square Enix has clarified that the game will run at 30 frames per second when it launches on the console this winter. While fans can still anticipate enjoying the game’s high-quality graphics, some have taken to social media to express their disappointment about the lower frame rate.
Given the capability of the Nintendo Switch 2 to run games like Cyberpunk 2077 at 40 frames per second (FPS), it’s not surprising that some Final Fantasy fans might feel disappointed by Square Enix’s choice to stick with a lower frame rate, considering that Final Fantasy VII Remake is a linear game and Cyberpunk offers a vast, detailed open world. It’s possible that Square Enix may release an update for the Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade in the future, potentially bringing 40 or even 60 FPS to the game.
The upcoming remake of Final Fantasy 7 titled “Intergrade” isn’t exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2. In fact, it will also be available on Xbox platforms this winter. This revelation was made alongside the debut of Final Fantasy 16 on Xbox during their June showcase. Although the specific release dates for the Xbox and Switch 2 versions of “FF7 Remake Intergrade” have yet to be announced, with the Tokyo Game Show happening in a month, an announcement could potentially be imminent.
