The much-anticipated prequel to “Dexter: Original Sin,” which is set to debut soon, has recently unveiled a sneak peek, stirring curiosity among viewers about how the show will delve into the backstory of the golden-hearted serial killer that was introduced in the initial, popular series.

Just before the release of the prequel series, Paramount decided to unveil the trailer at almost the very last moment, showcasing Dexter Morgan’s journey towards transforming into the vengeful serial killer fans had grown fond of from the original Showtime series.

Dexter: Original Sin shows the origin of the serial killer

The trailer, just like the series, is narrated by Michael C. Hall as he looks back on his younger years to explain how he ends up as a blood splatter expert helping the Miami Police Department solve murders while committing them in his free time. The trailer also shows how this show ties into the great Dexter universe that’s been created by not one but now two spinoffs from the original. The video has scenes spliced into it that call back to the ending of Dexter: New Blood. Michael C. Hall as Dexter is shown after he was shot by his son Harrison lying in the snow motionless and believed to be dead. Another shows shows him being taken to an emergency room. It’s in the emergency room where his life starts to flash before his eyes and he then starts narrating the new series. This connectes New Blood to Original Sin and the original Dexter.

The trailer for “Original Sin” doesn’t reveal if older Dexter survives or perishes, but this is not the central focus of the show. Instead, it delves into the journey and transformation of Michael C. Hall’s character as he becomes the man we know and follows his path to pursue one serial killer after another when the justice system fails.

The television series, titled “Dexter: New Blood,” is set in 1991 Miami and focuses on a young Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he evolves from a student into a serial killer. As his dark impulses become uncontrollable, the psychopath learns to harness his inner evil. The show also brings back Harry, his father who died of cancer before the original series began. In this reboot, Harry is portrayed by Christian Slater and is younger than in the previous version. Harry instructs Dexter on the code that enables him to identify deadly criminals and eliminate them instead of innocent victims. However, this new Dexter struggles with accepting his true identity, pretending to be normal, and blending into society as he eventually does. He must also juggle his vigilante lifestyle with his internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

In addition to Michael C. Hall, the TV series “Dexter: Original Sin” features Molly Brown, Christina Milian, James Martinez, Alex Shimizu, Reno Wilson, a special appearance by Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Patrick Dempsey.
