Details about Forza Horizon 6 have been revealed ahead of its official launch on May 19, 2026. The game, created by Playground Games, is the newest addition to the popular Forza Horizon series and will let players explore and race across Japan, including areas based on Tokyo, Mount Fuji, and the Japanese countryside.
Forza Horizon 6 will launch with a huge selection of over 550 cars, a strong focus on Japanese domestic market (JDM) car culture, changing weather and seasons, and extensive options for customizing cars and garages. Players will also be able to participate in car meet-ups and enjoy many other features. The game has already become one of the year’s most anticipated titles, exceeding 500,000 pre-orders on Steam. However, just before its release, it seems to have encountered an unforeseen problem.

Insider Gaming reports that Playground Games mistakenly released the complete, unprotected version of Forza Horizon 6 during a Steam update for its 155 GB preload files. Because the files weren’t encrypted, people quickly accessed and shared the game’s files online. Within hours, pirated versions were playable, reportedly because the game didn’t have anti-piracy measures like Denuvo. However, this leaked version isn’t fully functional; players on Reddit and Twitter have noted that online features don’t work and the game crashes right after the first race.

Neither Microsoft nor Playground Games has officially addressed the current issue. Rumors suggest players who got early access to Forza Horizon 6 or tried connecting to online services might be banned on a hardware level. A hardware ban completely prevents access by identifying unique parts of a player’s system, like the motherboard or hard drive.
