Forza Horizon 6 Officially Confirms Return of Divisive Feature

Playground Games has announced that the Auction House will be available in Forza Horizon 6 from the very beginning. This feature, which has proven popular with dedicated players as a way to earn in-game currency, is returning as part of the game’s continued evolution of the Forza Horizon franchise.

With Forza Horizon 6 now finalized and ready for its March 19th release, developers have confirmed a key feature: the Auction House. While the team hadn’t previously discussed its availability at launch, players can rest assured it will be included, which has a significant impact on how the game’s economy will function.

The Auction House Is Back in Forza Horizon 6

The upcoming Forza Horizon 6 will include the Auction House, functioning similarly to how it did in Horizon 5. While features like the Japan map are highly anticipated, the Auction House isn’t as popular with players. Experienced fans remember that previous versions allowed players to easily acquire rare cars and manipulate the in-game economy, often with large sums of credits. The system also favored players with fast internet connections due to lag and slow loading times when navigating menus and placing bids.

The Auction House is completely optional; players who prefer a fair progression system don’t need to use it. It won’t be a major issue at the start either, as it will take time for limited-edition, seasonal cars to become available. Importantly, the developers have confirmed that players will be able to earn previously released rare cars, which should address a common concern in Forza Horizon 5: the difficulty of obtaining limited-time vehicles. Knowing this should make the premium content in Forza Horizon 6 feel much more rewarding.

Twitter users generally reacted positively to Playground Games’ announcement about the Auction House, but the response on Reddit has been more varied. Players anticipate that exploits will appear quickly, though they’re unsure what those might be. This new Forza Horizon game will feature more cars than ever before. In addition to the classic Barn Finds, players can now discover and immediately purchase roadside Treasure Cars simply by exploring the game world. Once the game releases, players will need to figure out how much these cars will sell for at the Auction House, and whether they’ll be rare or appear randomly.

The economy in Forza Horizon 6 is still largely unknown, but the Auction House hints at interesting ways the community will influence it. The developers, Playground Games, may have included some safeguards to keep things stable. The game seems to be designed for a slower, more measured beginning, mirroring older Horizon titles with its progression and car performance restrictions. Plus, Forza Horizon 6 features a LEGO crossover, so expect plenty of lighthearted fun alongside the racing.
