France’s Top Politician Sees Potential in Bitcoin, Backed by MicroStrategy’s Saylor

In a recent post on social media, Michael Saylor, one of the founders of MicroStrategy, expressed his view that France might benefit from using Bitcoin.

Following a recent meeting with Sarah Knafo, who was elected as a member of the European Parliament last year, an event occurred.

In her latest post, Knafo referred to Saylor as an exceptionally astute businessperson, indicating that their conversation centered around the upcoming trajectory of Bitcoin and energy resources.

Europe’s leading crypto hub

France stands out among European countries as a major player in the realm of cryptocurrencies, frequently placing at the top when it comes to adoption rates.

France was one of the pioneering nations globally to establish regulations for cryptocurrencies. Specifically, the PACTE law identified digital asset service providers as a distinct category of service providers.

In 2021, France turned out to be the leading member of the European Union economies that began processing applications from cryptocurrency firms, utilizing the MiCA regulatory structure.

Endorsing Bitcoin reserves

In December, Knafo advocated for establishing Bitcoin reserves during her speech at the European Parliament. During this speech, she reminded her audience that the U.S. was contemplating the creation of a strategic reserve using the leading cryptocurrency.

While Knafo, a representative of France’s far-right, may not reflect typical European political views, the notion of sovereign nations adopting Bitcoin could be moving towards the mainstream.

According to a report by U.Today, Christian Lindner, who was once Germany’s finance minister, has expressed his viewpoint that it might be beneficial for both Germany and the European Central Bank (ECB) to contemplate adding Bitcoin to their existing reserve assets.

Previously, Michael Saylor from MicroStrategy advocated for the U.S. government to replace gold with Bitcoin as a preferred asset.
