God of War Ragnarok PC System Requirements Revealed

Highlights

  • God of War Ragnarok PC system requirements have been revealed.
  • The specs list is notably more demanding than the system requirements of the God of War PC port from 2022.
  • Unlike its predecessor, Ragnarok requires an SSD and a PlayStation Network account.

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the God of War Ragnarok PC system requirements have left me somewhat dumbfounded. It seems that Sony has taken the term “PlayStation-like experience” to a whole new level!

Sony has publicly disclosed the necessary specifications for running the highly anticipated game, “God of War Ragnarok.” The technical specifications suggest that PCs with more substantial hardware will be required to maintain consistent performance levels comparable to those experienced in the previous game across all aspects.

In late May 2024, the PC version of the highly anticipated “God of War Ragnarok” was officially confirmed for release. This epic game will debut on Steam on September 19, which is about six weeks before it celebrates its second anniversary.

Typically for PlayStation PC ports, Sony has disclosed the system specifications prior to its Steam launch for the game “God of War.” Notably, these new requirements recommend one generation more advanced GPU and CPU models across all performance levels. The entry-level specification now includes the Nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD RX 5500 XT graphics card, paired with either an Intel i5 4670K or AMD Ryzen 3 1200 processor. Additionally, this setup should provide approximately 30 frames per second at a 1080p resolution when playing the game on its lowest graphic settings and with 8GB of RAM.

Storage 190 GB

The listed performance estimates refer to native resolution, with no upscaling technology used.

At the same time, getting a stable 60fps at medium settings will require either the i5 8600 or Ryzen 5 3600 with the RTX 2060 Super or RX 5700, as well as 16GB of RAM. This hardware combination constitutes the game’s recommended specs. The RAM requirements cap out at 16GB all the way up to ultra settings. As is the case with most modern eye-candy games, God of War Ragnarok will be much more GPU- than CPU-intensive. Aside from having an unlocked frame rate, the PC port will support many modern upscaling and frame generation solutions: NVIDIA DLSS 3.7, AMD FSR 3.1, and Intel Xess 1.3.

It’s worth noting that an SSD was previously suggested for the 2022 PC version of God of War, but with Ragnarok, it’s now a necessity. This isn’t surprising since many recent AAA games have been requiring solid-state drives. The list of such games includes Starfield, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and even somewhat older titles like Cyberpunk 2077, which have updated their requirements to exclude hard disk drives following their release.

God of War Ragnarok PC Port Requires PSN Account

As a gamer eagerly awaiting to dive into the epic world of God of War Ragnarok on my PC, I mustn’t forget one crucial step – setting up a PlayStation Network account. Although this prerequisite has been known since the game’s announcement in May, Sony’s recent specs disclosure serves as a timely reminder that I can’t embark on this adventure without first creating an account.
