Gray Zone Warfare: Sunken Bird Walkthrough

A Mi-17 helicopter belonging to the Lamang Armed Forces is missing in the swamps southeast of Fort Narith. Gunny is determined to quickly discover the cause of the crash and, more importantly, what the helicopter was transporting.

Okay, so in Gray Zone Warfare, there’s this side mission called Sunken Bird. You can start it once you’ve unlocked the YBL-1 area. I got it from Gunny, and honestly, he’s a lifesaver! He gives out a ton of missions, which is awesome if you’re trying to level up fast – he’s probably the easiest vendor to grind with.

Sunken Bird Quest Walkthrough

This mission is generally easy – a simple scouting run without much trouble, unless you happen to run into another player who’s doing the same thing.

You’ll find the area for this quest in a small swamp. It’s located between landing zone Lima 2 and the major base called COP Titan, and is directly east of the YBL-1 bunker.

Locate the Downed LAF Helicopter

Once you reach the swamp area, your first order is to locate and inspect the crashed helicopter.

Look for it at grid coordinates 151, 120, right along the grid line. Once you’ve found the helicopter, head to the back where you’ll see a small wooden boat. Interacting with the boat will finish this part of the mission and give you new orders from Gunny.

Locate the Cargo from the Helicopter

Looking over the crash site, it’s clear someone else got here before you. They also took the important package Gunny sent.

Your next goal is a small enemy camp located southwest of where you crashed. It’s guarded by between two and four soldiers with rifles.

After you’ve secured the area, go inside the big house. You’ll find a variety of protective equipment there, like complete suits and masks, designed to shield you from nuclear, biological, and chemical hazards.

Go to the half-open wooden crate in the southwest corner of the house and check it. Reporting what you find to Gunny will finish the ‘Sunken Bird’ task in Gray Zone Warfare.
