As you progress through the story in Crimson Desert, you’ll eventually encounter Gregor, a dangerous boss known as the Halberd of Carnage. He’s a tough opponent, attacking quickly and using cannon fire to overwhelm you. But don’t worry – with the right strategy, you can defeat him.

You can destroy Gregor’s cannons by hitting them with his own halberd. He attacks with slow, predictable charges, and we’ll explain how to block or dodge them. We’ll also share effective attack strategies to use against Gregor, and what items to prepare before the fight.

How to Prepare for Gregor, the Halberd of Carnage in Crimson Desert

  1. Before the boss fight, you can find a Grindstone and an Anvil to enhance your weapon and armor for the fight.
  2. You should also bring plenty of food to heal during the fight.
  3. Make sure you have some Palmar Pills to revive yourself in case you get killed, and Gregor is weak enough to finish.
  4. Focus Level 3 is essential for this fight, as it allows you to press L3+R3 together to slow time, regenerate Spirit, and hit L1 just as Gregor is about to attack to automatically parry and counter him.
  5. Blinding Flash Finisher is also great for this fight. Hold L1+R1, then hold R2 to enter this finishing state against Gregor. It will see you unleash an unblockable flurry of attacks that deal great damage and build stun. When the stun meter is filled, you can deal a high-damage finisher with R1+R2.

Here’s a helpful hint for the fight: you don’t need to clear out the entire castle – just the boss arena. When the fight starts, Gregor usually stays inside, giving you a safe zone to recover health and Spirit. This area is also ideal for avoiding his powerful, invulnerable spear attack. If he uses it in the courtyard, he won’t target you while trying to return to the arena.

Attack Pattern to Use Against Gregor, the Halberd

  1. Jump + Axiom Force onto the cannons on the wall to stand on them.
  2. Block Gregor’s attacks, as his halberd weapon will destroy the cannons in a few hits, rendering half of the arena now accessible without cannon fire.
  3. Hold L3+R3 to enter Focus.
  4. As Gregor’s halberd is about to connect, hit L1 to parry him.
  5. This parry window gives you around three hits, then you’ll need to repeat the process.
  6. Use L1+R1 to enter Blinding Flash, then hold R2 to use a Blinding Flash Finisher to deal more damage and build stun.
  7. Repeat Blinding Flash Finisher and Focus to kill Gregor.

Gregor, the Halberd of Carnage’s Move Set (& How to Counter Them)

  1. Gregor will dash and lunge forward with his Halberd. This can be countered with a parry, which is made easier by slowing time with Focus (L3+R3) to watch for when the attack is about to connect.
  2. Gregor will also swipe up, then down, then up again with his Halberd; this can also be countered easily with a parry.
  3. If the screen goes dark, Gregor is preparing his invulnerable attack move. Gregor will explode the floor under you, so dodge around. He will then lunge around 9 times in a row. These lunges are relatively slow, but cannot be parried. Instead, you should time it so that the tip of his spear glows red, then evade to the side at the last second.
  4. Gregor will tap his Halberd into the ground. If he does so, then every cannon in the arena will shoot at once in a flurry of shots. This is why it’s important to destroy the cannons in one half of the room.
  5. Gregor’s attacks can be easily predicted due to his slow charge. Use Focus to watch for the charge, then use L1 to parry the thrust before it connects, and repeat until he dies.
