Halo Studios Plans to Remake the Original Trilogy, It’s Claimed

A new claim states that Halo Studios plans to remake the original trilogy.

A few months ago, rumors surfaced that Halo Studios was planning to remake the single-player stories of Halo 2 and Halo 3, and was also working on a new Halo 7 game that would include multiplayer. Now, a source familiar with the project has confirmed these rumors and shared some extra information.

Halo Trilogy Remakes Reportedly in the Works to Ensure ‘Halo’s New Era Doesn’t Fail’

Okay, so I’ve been following the news about the Halo remakes, and the latest update comes from Rebs Gaming on YouTube. Basically, it started with a post from Halo leaks saying Halo 2 and 3 might get full campaign remakes. Then, Rebs talked about Dan Gniady joining Halo Studios – he’s a lead game designer working on the Halo: Combat Evolved remake! It gets even more exciting because Dan hinted at the whole trilogy being remade on his LinkedIn, saying something about ‘giving the Covenant back their bomb.’ Of course, it’s all just speculation right now, but as a huge Halo fan, it’s incredibly exciting to think about!

Rebs then highlighted a post from TechnicalHalo on X, another source discussing Halo Trilogy Remakes. According to the post from earlier in 2024, Halo Studios opted to fully remake the series instead of simply bringing the Master Chief Collection to PlayStation, believing it would generate more profit. The plan reportedly involves remaking the original Halo: Combat Evolved through Halo 3, with remakes of Halo 2 and 3 being released as part of the same game.

A reporter named Rebs has learned more about the rumored remake of the original Halo trilogy. He spoke with someone who used to work at Halo Studios, and they confirmed the remakes are happening, though they couldn’t share specifics because of a confidentiality agreement. A second source also verified the remakes and explained why the studio is focusing on revisiting older games instead of making new ones.

According to sources, Microsoft and Halo Studios are being cautious with the future of the ‘Halo’ franchise to avoid another disappointing release. They’re choosing to remake the original games instead of creating a new one, fearing strong negative reactions from long-time fans. They believe remaking the classics is a safer bet, as the original ‘Halo’ games were incredibly popular and continue to be enjoyed by many, and they can’t risk another failure.

Just to clarify, Rebs said this doesn’t mean 343 Industries has stopped working on future Halo games altogether. Apparently, they’ve got different teams working on different things – some are focused on updating the older campaigns, while others are building out the multiplayer side of things. So, things are still happening, just spread across multiple projects.

Please be aware that this information isn’t official, so it’s best to take it with a grain of salt. Any news about a remake of the original Halo trilogy will come directly from the game developers.

Halo Infinite is no longer receiving updates as the developers are now working on other games. This could also affect the development of upcoming titles like the new Grand Theft Auto, a potential remake of the original Halo trilogy, Gears E-Day, and the next Call of Duty game.
