What Is The Vivarium In Hogwarts Legacy?

The Room of Requirement is a significant area within the game Hogwarts Legacy, offering players a personalized space they can customize and enhance. In the magical realm, the Room of Requirement transforms into whatever is needed at that moment. In Hogwarts Legacy, it serves as a spot for players to invest time in growing plants, improving equipment, and many other activities.

In the Room of Requirement, players have the option to explore a spacious area known as a Menagerie, where they can store various magical creatures such as Thestrals, Nifflers, Unicorns, and many others. At any given time, the default Menagerie space accommodates up to 12 animals, but there is an additional rule that only allows for a maximum of four distinct species at once. However, players can enlarge this area to house more magical beasts by unlocking new environments through other Menageries.

How To Get More Vivariums In Hogwarts Legacy

Expanding the Room of Requirement, or any space for that matter, is always desirable, especially for those who wish to showcase a variety of creatures from the grassland regions beyond the standard Forest Vivarium. This vivarium becomes accessible once players finish ‘The Elf, the Nab-Sack, and the Loom’ quest. However, incorporating additional biomes into the default vivarium requires some narrative development and effort. Here’s a guide on how to introduce three new vivarium biomes in Hogwarts Legacy.

Coastal Vivarium

The “Coastal Aquarium” is fittingly titled, as it resembles the coastline located south on the provided map. Upon gaining access, players will observe surging waves along a sandy shore, backed by rocky bluffs overlooking the water. To gain entry to this aquarium, gamers initially need to capture a total of 10 creatures and complete ‘The Struggle of House Elves’ side mission from Deek, who can be found in the Room of Requirement. Once these conditions are met, the Coastal Aquarium will be accessible during the Fall season. Unlocking this aquarium provides players with an additional 12 spaces for various creatures, with a limitation of housing up to four species simultaneously.

Similar to the Forest Vivarium, there are hidden, compact treasure chests waiting to be found scattered across the Coastal, Swamp, and Mountain Vivariums. These secret stashes can be uncovered by carefully investigating each Vivarium. In the Default Vivarium, players will find small chests concealed within a cave just right of the entrance and atop the waterfall when they delve deeper.

Similar to other concealed chests found in Vivariums, these provide additional building components for players to tailor their Vivariums as they prefer, including stone walls and steps. Each Vivarium also contains items to gather, such as Ashwinder Eggs, Horklump Juice, Lacewing Flies, Moonstone, and various others.

In the Coastal Vivarium, players can find more small chests tucked away as follows:

  • Next to the tree inside the large cave.
  • Close to the edge of the cave exit point.

Swamp Vivarium

The second upgrade for your Vivarium is the “Swamp Vivarium.” To access this area, you’ll need to accomplish two prerequisites: finish the side quest called “The Plight of the House Elves” and complete Charles Rookwood’s trial from the main story. Once these tasks are done, Professor Weasley will let you know that Deek has a new assignment related to breeding creatures. This task triggers the “Foal of the Dead” side quest, which becomes available during winter and allows players to buy a Breeding Pen. As anticipated, you’ll receive 12 additional slots for beasts with the same four-species limitations when you complete this upgrade.

The Swamp Vivarium also hides some more small chests to open, located as follows:

  • Near the central tree, accessible by climbing up the rocks.
  • Up the slope left of the Vivarium entrance.

Mountain Vivarium
