How Does The Concealing Veil Work In Elden Ring

As a seasoned Elden Ring player with countless hours spent traversing the Lands Between, I can confidently say that the Concealing Veil Talisman is a true gem for those who enjoy the PVP aspect of this masterpiece. Having battled my way through Sage’s Cave to secure this elusive item, I’ve come to appreciate its unique value in the realm of player versus player encounters.

In Elden Ring, players have a diverse selection of Talismans they can use; this variety is further expanded in the Shadow Of The Erdtree expansion. These Talismans provide passive benefits that can boost your damage output, stats, or resistance levels, making the challenging bosses in the game less daunting.

In many cases, the charms and powers within the game serve both Player versus Environment (PVE) and Player versus Player (PVP), but some abilities function quite differently based on your current combat situation. For instance, the Concealing Veil Talisman, a rare drop from one of the game’s distinctive bosses, tends to be more advantageous in PVP scenarios than PVE.

Where To Get The Concealing Veil In Elden Ring

The Concealing Veil is dropped by the Black Knife Assassin boss at the end of Sage’s Cave. Sage’s Cage is found along the western section of Altus Plateau. To get here, travel to the Abandoned Coffin Site of Grace and ride torrent along the large lake to the northeastern corner. Once entering, you won’t be able to fast travel out but can walk out at any time.

Sage’s Cavern is a straightforward labyrinth, featuring several deceptive walls that may seem to block progress or treasure hoards. Numerous chests dot this cavern, none of which are booby-trapped, and all containing valuable items. At the cave’s end stands the elusive Black Knife Assassin, who remains mostly invisible during the encounter.

  • Not immune to frostbite
  • Doesn’t have any major weaknesses to exploit.

Keep an eye out for prints on the water to trail your leader, and always stay alert since it might attempt a sneak attack from behind. Once you land a hit on the boss, it will momentarily reveal itself, offering opportunities for rapid-fire damage. Despite having limited health, its ranged attacks can pose challenges for distant fighters and magic users due to its invisibility. If needed, aim to strike once in melee combat before locking onto the boss and casting a spell swiftly before it vanishes again.

The Concealing Veil works very differently against NPCs than it does against PVP enemies. While crouching, you become invisible when a few feet away from other players from their point of view. While crouched, you can still move and stay completely invisible, but should your enemy get too close you will be seen and the effect vanishes. In both PVP and PVE situations, you’ll know this Talisman is in effect as its icon will appear along the top of the screen under your health bar.

As a gamer, I’ve found that this Talisman isn’t particularly useful when squaring off against ordinary NPC foes. It does offer a slight stealth advantage, but the effect is hardly noticeable. In fact, if an enemy manages to spot you, they can maintain lock-on even after you’ve moved far enough away to trigger invisibility against an invader. In short, this Talisman truly shines in PVP scenarios, but for me, it’s not really worth the effort in PVE.
