How Star Wars Outlaws Shows a Different Side of a Last Jedi Planet

As a seasoned Star Wars gamer with years of galactic adventures under my belt, I must say that Star Wars Outlaws has truly outdone itself by giving us a fresh perspective on familiar planets like Cantonica. In The Last Jedi, we saw the glitzy and glamorous side of Canto Bight, but this game has taken me to its gritty underbelly.

As a gamer immersed in the gritty world of “Star Wars Outlaws”, I find myself transported to the seedier corners of the galaxy, visiting planets that are often shrouded in darkness and danger. Tatooine is one such place, but so is Kijimi from “The Rise of Skywalker” and Cantonica, the casino planet from “The Last Jedi”. While these locations may seem familiar, “Star Wars Outlaws” has unveiled a fresh perspective, revealing aspects of these planets I’ve never seen before.

In “The Last Jedi,” viewers joined Finn and Rose as they navigated through the vibrant, glitzy districts that blanket the planet’s surface. Although “Star Wars Outlaws” offers a glimpse into the gambling aspect, this story primarily explores the Slums and residential areas in greater depth. This not only establishes the setting for Kay Vess’ narrative but also lends a fresh perspective to the planet, enhancing its overall impact and longevity.

Star Wars Outlaws Takes Canto Bight in a Whole New Direction

The Last Jedi Showed Fans One Side of This Casino Planet

In “Star Wars,” Finn and Rose take viewers on a journey to the planet Cantonica, where they seek out a skilled Codebreaker residing in the city of Canto Bight. Their mission is to deactivate the First Order’s hyperspace tracker. Unfortunately, they are apprehended for a traffic offense, ending up in jail. As they strive to break free, they are joined by DJ, a slicer. Chaos ensues as gunfire rings out, fathiers are let loose, and the trio make a daring escape aboard a vessel called the Libertine – a space yacht.

In the unfolding events, spectators get an unparalleled glimpse into the vibrant life of Canto Bight. This bustling metropolis teems with colossal casinos attracting affluent visitors, gamblers, and war profiteers, all chasing easy fortune. Creatures from across the galaxy can be found participating in various classic gambling activities. The environment is dazzlingly bright, drinks are plentiful, and the entire planet exudes a Las Vegas-like charm. It’s a spectacle worth witnessing, leaving many curious about its hidden depths. Thus, Star Wars Outlaws certainly delivers on that curiosity.

Star Wars Outlaws Has Shed More Light on Canto Bight

In Star Wars Outlaws, the initial planet players encounter is Cantonica. Instead of guiding them through the glamorous casinos of Canto Bight, the game takes them on a tour of the slums. Unlike the usual bright lights and gleaming architecture, here you’ll find murky alleys, misty nightclubs, dilapidated structures, and hardworking residents struggling to get by. This is quite a contrasting perspective of this planet, making it all the more captivating to explore.

The Last Jedi might have given them a glimpse of the glitz, but Star Wars: Homefront offers a peek into everyday life for its inhabitants. It brings a sense of realism, depth, and richness to the setting, allowing players to understand the city’s inner workings more deeply. Plus, the interactive NPCs add an extra layer of immersion. There are countless tales yet to be uncovered, characters still to meet, and journeys waiting to be taken.

Cantonica may be one of the more interesting planets introduced during Star Wars‘ Sequel era. Having a casino planet in the galaxy far, far away just makes sense, and it is great that the franchise is exploring it further. While it remains to be seen what more Canto Bight can offer Star Wars, it is nice that fans got to see two of its contrasting sides. And hopefully, this is not the last time they get to.
