How to Prepare For The Keeper of Flaming Mountains
The boss of the Flaming Mountains, known as the Keeper, tends to rely on minions rather than engaging directly in combat. To handle this boss effectively, you’ll need a character build that excels in fighting multiple opponents and can also withstand the challenges of the second phase of the battle.
For the battle against the Keeper of Flaming Mountains, I’d recommend this optimal character setup for players:

Should you have the necessary resources, I strongly recommend enhancing the Serpentscale Battlerobe for this upcoming battle, as its advantages become particularly notable when combat takes place in water. This armor offers substantial bonuses while players are submerged, making it an evident selection. However, if you choose not to upgrade it, the defense stats may seem insufficient and a different armor might be a wiser choice.
Additionally, consider enhancing your Mobile Spin ability beyond the provided equipment, since you’ll encounter bothersome archer foes at the start of this battle that require elimination.
Before engaging in the upcoming battle, you’ll spot a room located just prior to the Emerald Hall Shrine, close to where you encounter the two large enemies. In this room, you can completely enhance your equipment. Make sure to take advantage of this opportunity before proceeding with the fight.
How To Beat The Keeper of Flaming Mountains
The battle will commence with a player facing the Keeper of Flaming Peaks individually, and straightaway, it becomes apparent that they are quite frail. They possess very few significant counterattacks, allowing you to capitalize on this initial phase by launching powerful strikes, spells, and combinations without much resistance.
Your goal is to cause maximum destruction while they’re temporarily present, since they’ll become invincible until you eliminate a group of adversaries first.
Initially, you’ll encounter a horde of standard undead creatures and archer enemies stationed around the arena. It would be wise to let Zhu Bajie handle the basic enemies in the center while you focus on taking out the archers, who pose the main danger.
If necessary, employ your mobile shield to dodge oncoming attacks, and once the adversaries are subdued, return to the center of the battlefield to finish off any lingering foes.
Once you’ve vanquished these adversaries, the Guardian of the Inferno Peaks will descend once more into the heart, signaling a new phase during which you can inflict tremendous destruction.
Every time I get him almost knocked out, he’ll jump up to an unattainable spot, only to return stronger than ever, forcing me to step up my game!
It appears that it might be challenging or even impossible to drain their health bar ahead of the second phase by manipulating the game. Therefore, I suggest conserving your spells and transformations instead of attempting to conclude the battle too early.
As I face this second wave of foes, it feels less like a conventional enemy group and more like a mini-boss encounter with the Horse NPCs that have been part of my journey throughout the game so far. They present a challenging test due to their long whips, which keep me on my toes since they can attack from a distance, making it impossible for me to take a break or catch my breath during this fight.
Furthermore, these combinations move swiftly and are tough to avoid. But, by employing spells and powerful strikes to maintain them off-balance, you’ll likely find this phase relatively straightforward.
During this phase, occasionally watch out for the Flaming Mountains’ Guardian launching missiles. Maintain focus on these while battling other adversaries.
Once you’ve vanquished the Horse adversary, the true battle will start, marking the beginning of the second phase. This is when The Keeper of Flaming Mountains transforms into the Yin-Yang Fish.
This aquatic creature possesses several close combat moves, including tail slams, body slides, and roll maneuvers. The stage design is somewhat reminiscent of the Zhu Bajie battle segments where he transforms into a Sludge fish. However, the brute force attacks are relatively harmless compared to the danger posed by the projectiles it hurls at the player. Its primary hazard lies in these thrown items.
Initially, they’ll unleash a thunderous sound wave that creates a ring of water projectiles in the battlefield. These projectiles function similarly to landmines, causing harm when players collide with them. Therefore, it’s advisable to strategize and try to shift the fight towards safer zones of the arena if feasible.
Afterward, the fish might respond by leaping out of water and launching a sequence of projectiles that seek out the player. These projectiles are tough to evade, and if one strikes you, you’ll be immobilized, making it impossible for you to avoid any subsequent ones. This often results in a 50% health reduction. To escape this predicament, your best bet is to stay alert and react swiftly.
Apart from this assault, they generally won’t cause much of a problem for you. To counter them, simply narrow the gap when they swiftly retreat. Seize these close encounters to unleash multiple powerful strikes, while avoiding getting hit by their tail.
Additionally, save your Cloud Jump Ability until they launch an attack with their projectiles. By doing so, you will edge a step nearer to realizing your destiny.
