In Yakuza Kiwami 3, Kiryu can explore many different areas, and to help him get around without tiring himself out (and to conserve energy for fights), he can unlock a special vehicle. The Street Surfer isn’t as glamorous or speedy as a car or motorcycle, but it’s a reliable way to travel.

How to Get the Street Surfer in Yakuza Kiwami 3

Substory 11 — The Next-Gen Dream Machine

You’ll need to find a specific scene to unlock the Street Surfer in Yakuza Kiwami 3. First, you’ll run into a character named Oka, who will bump into Kiryu during a cutscene. This happens on W Ryuku Blvd. as you head northeast onto Ryukyu Blvd. Once that cutscene is complete, Substory 11, called “The Next-Gen Dream Machine,” will become available.

You’ll encounter Oka being threatened by three dangerous men on the Ryukyu Central Highway, leading to a fight. Once you win, Oka will give you the Street Surfer, a skateboard you can summon anytime by pressing down on the D-pad. Keep in mind the Street Surfer only lasts for 10 seconds before exploding, and it doesn’t inflict any damage. You can immediately get another one after it blows up.

How to Upgrade the Street Surfer in Yakuza Kiwami 3

The Street Surfer has a bit of a quirk – it explodes every 10 seconds! But don’t worry, you can improve it. Just keep riding the Street Surfer, and eventually you’ll get a message from Oka. He’ll ask you to come back to him on Ryukyu Central Hwy.

Now you can visit Oka and improve your Street Surfer for 10,000 yen. Keep riding it, then return to Oka to spend another 10,000 yen on further upgrades. Each upgrade makes the Street Surfer less likely to explode.
