Locating a Firestone in Monster Hunter Wilds is crucial for enhancing your weapons, particularly if you’re focusing on the fire-oriented Quematrice tree. As one of the initial weapon types that inflicts elemental damage, it’s likely that you’ve made one to burn down monsters.
After defeating the Rompopolo within the Oilwell Basin during the main storyline, you will unlock a unique three-weapon upgrade. If you’re looking for a top-tier firearm to complement your fiery environment, make sure you acquire the Firestone.
Monster Hunter Wilds Firestone location
In the Oilwell Basin region, I’ve discovered that Firestone can be mined from specific outcrops. But, let me warn you, it might require a few attempts as they are somewhat scarce in Low Rank zones. You’ll recognize when you’ve successfully mined one because your character will do a unique little dance, showcasing their excitement over the rare stone they’ve just unearthed!
If you’re seeking locations abundant in mining outcrops within the Oilwell Basin, you can collect two of them in area 4 and an additional pair in area 6, easily accessed by following the road from Everforge base camp. Upon reaching area 4, ascend a climbable cliff to access area 6 as well as the other two outcrops. Gathering these nodes will also provide you with Dragonite Ore, essential for the Quematrice upgrade. However, to obtain the final ingredient, you’ll need to cut off and harvest its tail.
Additionally, take some time to investigate the depths of the map, specifically the locations with lava pits, as they hold additional mining outcrops. Remember to hydrate yourself with a refreshing drink to maintain your health. On the bottommost part of the map, you’ll find four mining outcrops in area 13, two each in areas 16 and 17. Make sure to collect all these resources. With a bit of luck, you should discover a Firestone from this expedition.
If you don’t manage to find a Firestone, you have three options: firstly, you can wait for mining outcrops to reappear (their respawn time is displayed if you hover over them on the map); secondly, you can take a break in your tent to pass some time; lastly, you can advance the storyline by defeating the final boss of chapter two. Doing so will reward you with a Firestone as part of the quest completion.
