How to Get Golden Pumpkin in Stardew Valley (And What It Does)

In Stardew Valley, the elusive Golden Pumpkin is uncovered on Spirit’s Eve, yet, once acquired, players have limited options for utilizing this rare find.

In the game of Stardew Valley, Spirit’s Eve serves as its own unique twist on Halloween. Every year on the 27th day of Fall, the town of Pelican will be adorned with eerie decorations and engaging activities, much like a real-life Halloween celebration. However, unlike other events or holidays in Stardew Valley, there are no contests to participate in during Spirit’s Eve. Instead, players can explore a mysterious maze that is rumored to have been created by the Wizard.

During this special event, Pierre’s booth offers some festive items for sale such as a Rarecrow, a Jack-O-Lantern, and the recipe for Jack-O-Lanterns. But finding the elusive Golden Pumpkin requires extra effort.

How to Get Golden Pumpkin in Stardew Valley

As a dedicated Stardew Valley player, I’ve discovered two methods to obtain the coveted Golden Pumpkin. One route leads you through the Haunted Maze. To make your journey smoother, remember to equip a Glow Ring for better visibility. However, if you don’t have one, just follow the old trick of always going left. This will guide you until you see a sign with a question mark, which might seem like a dead-end according to Sam. But don’t be fooled! This is actually a clue indicating a hidden passage. Simply walk straight through the bushes and climb up into the mine shaft. Continue along its path; at the end of the tunnel, you’ll find a chest filled with a Golden Pumpkin.

It’s important to mention that obtaining the Golden Pumpkin has become slightly complex following the 1.6 update. Unlike before when one could get a Golden Pumpkin annually at the end of the maze, now it is possible only once every two years. On any other completion of the Haunted Maze, you will discover a Prize Ticket in the secret chest instead.

Another method to get a Golden Pumpkin is by unlocking an Artifact Chest, which is a special storage that contains uncommon items. This chest can be opened like a geode at the Blacksmith’s workshop. Artifact Chests can be bought from the Desert Merchant in Stardew Valley for 5 Omni Geodes, obtained from Haunted Skulls within the Skull Caverns, found in supply crates on the Beach Farm starting with the 1.5 update, or discovered at Artifact Sites.

For both the Mystery Box and its Golden counterpart, there are several tasks you need to complete to obtain them. Once you reach level 50 and receive your second Prize Ticket, these items can be discovered by opening Fishing Chests, smashing containers, felling trees, and panning. Yet, to actually open them, Clint’s assistance will once more be required.

In Stardew Valley, the Golden Pumpkin isn’t particularly versatile. However, it holds charm as an adored gift for all villagers in Pelican Town. If you decide to sell it, you’ll earn 2,500 gold. But what sets the Golden Pumpkin apart is its role in crafting – by blending Cloth with a Golden Pumpkin at Emily’s sewing machine, you can make a Witch Hat.

In Stardew Valley, players must initially secure some Cloth to customize their items. The next day following this acquisition, Emily will extend an invitation for the farmer to utilize her sewing machine at her residence. Another option is to finish Emily’s Rock Rejuvenation quest, which rewards a sewing machine for the player’s personal use.
