How to Get Oil for the Donkey in Graveyard Keeper

In Graveyard Keeper, improving your cemetery – by fixing things up with repair kits, adding flowerbeds, and making new headstones – eventually earns you the title of cleric from the Bishop. While this is a good thing, your donkey, who hauls bodies to the graveyard, gets upset about being stuck in the mud. He now wants to be paid in carrots – you can grow them or buy them – and he’ll refuse to deliver any more corpses until you also give him oil to quiet his squeaky cart wheels.

In Graveyard Keeper, players can make oil using a Vine Press, but it’s simpler to just buy Seed Oil from the character Dig, as the Vine Press requires more advanced tools.

To create Seed Oil, players first need to unlock the Vine Press by researching Transplanting, Grape Farming, and then Wine Making.

Where To Buy Seed Oil In Graveyard Keeper

You can buy oil from Dig, an old man wearing an orange tunic. He’s located east of the village, near some stone ruins, right by the main road.

From Dig, players simply need to buy 1 Seed Oil, which costs 30 Bronze coins.

Dig also sells Hemp and Hemp Rope for when players need those items.

Okay, so after getting the Seed Oil back to the donkey, it’s all about keeping him happy! Basically, if we build a carrot box and keep it full of carrots – he goes through 10 at a time, so we’ll need to be diligent! – he’ll keep bringing us… well, let’s just say bodies for autopsies and burials. The good news is we get paid for each Burial Certificate, so even with the carrot cost, we should still be making money. I’m thinking we should definitely look into ways to grow more carrots, maybe with some fertilizer, to really maximize our profits!

Getting Honey For Dig In Graveyard Keeper

Dig will ask you to bring him 5 pots of Honey in exchange for a cake recipe – one of the more complex recipes in Graveyard Keeper. If you’re trying to complete this quest while also gathering oil, here’s a quick guide to finding Honey.

In Graveyard Keeper, players can make honey, but it’s a late-game activity. It takes advanced technology, specific tools, and a significant time investment, making it difficult to achieve early on.

Okay, so if you need honey for Dig, the best place to get it is from the Beekeeper! He’s pretty easy to find – just head a little northwest of the tavern, and you’ll see his place with a bunch of beehives. He sells honey for 30 bronze coins each, but the price goes up a tiny bit every time you buy some. To get the 5 honey Dig needs, you’ll have to spend 1 silver and 60 bronze total. Not too bad!
