As the game shifts its focus to the conflict with Talon, Overwatch has added the Crimson Wolf skin for weapons. This skin uses the signature red color scheme of their rivals. Crimson Wolf joins the other Competitive skins, giving players more ways to customize their weapons and encouraging continued participation in ranked Overwatch matches. This guide will show you how to earn this skin.
Unlocking Crimson Wolf in Overwatch
Like other yearly Competitive rewards, the Crimson Wolf skin costs 3,000 Competitive Points to buy in the game. You earn these points by playing Competitive matches in either the standard game mode or Stadium. Because the Crimson Wolf skin was released during the first season of the Reign of Talon year, any Competitive Points you saved from past seasons can’t be used to purchase it.
Just so you know, each Crimson Wolf skin you buy can only be used on one weapon. If you’d like the skin for multiple weapons, you’ll need to spend an additional 3,000 Competitive Points for each one.
Crimson Wolf changes the appearance of your weapons, giving them a see-through, reddish tint. It replaces the original texture with a crimson color and adds a fixed image that appears within the weapon’s outline.
You’ll get between 5 and 10 Competitive Points for each competitive match, depending on whether you win or tie. If you win a match in the Competitive Stadium, you’ll earn 20 points. To unlock the Competitive Stadium playlist, you first need to win 10 regular matches in a Stadium.
Where to Find Crimson Wolf Skin
To find the Crimson Wolf skin, go to the Customize menu for any hero and scroll all the way down to the Weapon Variants tab on the left. You’ll also find other exclusive skins earned from previous Overwatch Competitive seasons there.
Don’t mistake this for Doomfist’s Crimson Wolf skin. You earn that one by reaching Diamond rank during the first three seasons of the Reign of Talon competitive period.
What are Legacy Competitive Points?
These special points aren’t for current season skins. Instead, they let you buy skins from past seasons. At the end of each competitive year in Overwatch, your regular Competitive Points will turn into Legacy Points, giving you another opportunity to get any skins you didn’t earn before.
