How to Heal and Revive Allies in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition

In the game Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, conquering monstrous mobs and bosses would be nearly impossible without grasping the art of healing during battles. While the gameplay differs from the Xenoblade Chronicles series, once you get the hang of it, you’ll find it manageable. In this new edition, your main source of healing will come through Soul Voices and Soul Challenges. However, by advancing certain Classes, you’ll gain access to standard healing abilities as well.

Healing in Battle

Soul Challenge and Soul Voice Prompts

In battle, you might encounter a moment called a “Soul Challenge,” signaled by quick-time events (QTE) on your screen. To conquer this challenge, you should press the ‘B-button’ exactly when the white ring matches up with the bright orange ring within the Soul Challenge circle. If you manage it correctly and achieve a good or perfect score, you’ll regain some health points.

As a fan, I’d express it like this: Engaging in Soul Challenges will elicit a unique prompt called the “Soul Voice.” Your companions can respond to these prompts by employing the appropriate artwork. Additionally, your allies can also utilize the Soul Voice Prompts, and selecting the matching artwork will earn you some recovery points.

In this scenario, only the primary character has the ability to start Soul Challenges. Moreover, the type of Soul Voice Prompt that emerges is not something you can choose; therefore, it’s wise to conserve your creativity for moments when it will have maximum impact.

Other Ways to Recover HP

Absolutely, Soul Challenges and Soul Prompts are merely the surface aspects of healing in a fight, serving as your primary means of health restoration. However, don’t forget to make good use of your enhancement abilities and skills during battle as well.

In the game titled “Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition“, there are multiple forms of abilities at your disposal. Among them, two possess the capability to restore Hit Points (HP).

  • Buff Arts
  • Auras

Once you open up the “Classes” option, you’ll gain the ability to switch between various weapon types and master unique skills that a Drifter (initial character class) wouldn’t have access to. Some classes specialize in HP recovery abilities and skills, providing more of these options than others. You can explore the different skills for each class in the “Party” menu.

Here are the arts that restore HP:

How to Revive Allies

How to Increase Tension Points (TP)

Reviving your allies becomes possible when you accumulate 3000 Tension Points. Similarly, your allies can bring you back to life if they too possess 3000 TP. To revive a fallen ally, simply press and hold the A-button near them when you have 3000 TP. However, if your Tension Points aren’t sufficient, the option to revive won’t be available.

In the course of a fight, you’ll accumulate TP points through normal attacks, Quick Time Events (such as Soul Challenges and Voice Prompts), and using your Arts. To simplify the process of collecting TP, consider equipping gear that boosts its production.

Remember, certain art forms necessitate the use of a specific tool, which will be indicated by the tool’s initials on the corresponding icons for each art form.
