In the realm of RuneScape: Dragonwilds, I find myself immersed in an extraordinary survival crafting game that truly stands out from the pack. One aspect that captivates me is its enchanting magic system. As a player, I can weave spells to aid me in resource gathering and combat, but it’s the unique twist: these magical spells necessitate a specific ammunition, painstakingly crafted at a Rune Altar, that sets this game apart.
In the beginning of the game, Zanik assigns players a tutorial mission that involves collecting Rune Essence and later using it at a Rune Altar for crafting Air Runes and Astral Runes – essential ingredients for magical spells within Dragonwilds. Some players struggle with this task as they are unsure of the location of the Rune Altar, but the answer is surprisingly straightforward. Here’s how to finish the Rune Mysteries quest in RuneScape: Dragonwilds:
1. Collect enough Rune Essence from various locations around the game world.
2. Head to the Rune Altar which can be found at the heart of the Rune Mysteries area within the game.
3. Offer the collected Rune Essence to the Rune Altar to craft Air Runes and Astral Runes.
4. Return to Zanik to complete the quest.
How to Build a Rune Altar in RuneScape: Dragonwilds
In the game “RuneScape: Dragonwilds,” you can create a Rune Altar from the build menu. Essentially, this is like a workbench but specifically for magic spells. You’ll find it positioned next to the regular crafting table in the Dragonwilds build menu.
As a gamer, I find myself in need of building a Rune Altar. To do this, I need to round up 12 stones and four Rune Essences. Gathering stones can be done by plucking small rocks from the ground or chiseling bigger boulders with my pickaxe. The Rune Essence, on the other hand, can be mined from the glowing rocks near Rune sites. Luckily, there’s a deposit of Rune Essence conveniently located next to Zanik, so I won’t have to travel far to get what I need for my Rune Altar construction.
After setting up the Rune Altar, players have the ability to manufacture Air Runes and Astral Runes. The former serves as ammunition for a magic weapon, while both are depleted when casting spells. As players advance their skills, they can unlock new spells, and by pressing the K key and scrolling down each skill tree, they can preview upcoming spells along their progression path.

In essence, Zanik requires only a minimal amount of each kind of Rune, which means players won’t have to spend much time collecting Rune Essence. Once you hand over the Astral Runes and Air Runes to Zanik, the quest will be finished. At this stage, you will receive instructions to meet an elderly man at a nearby deserted settlement to carry on with your adventure.
In the real meat of things, the adventure in “RuneScape: Dragonwilds” unfolds, and the introductory quests such as Rune Mysteries serve to equip players with the fundamental skills needed to thrive amidst the perils of Ashenfall. Ahead lie zones that are more treacherous and a formidable dragon, so it’s crucial to excel in each skill set and acquire new equipment.
