In the game NTE: Neverness to Everness, mastering Parry Attack, Critical Dodge, and Critical Riposte is essential for becoming proficient in combat and enjoying the main gameplay experience.
The combat system in NTE is surprisingly complex, and mastering the basic moves and knowing when to use them will significantly improve your gameplay. Here’s a detailed explanation.
How to Parry Attack in NTE
Okay, so in NTE, a ‘Parry Attack’ basically means hitting an enemy right when they’re about to attack and you see that circular icon pop up over them. It’s all about timing! Not every attack can be parried though – you can only parry the ones that actually show you that warning sign.
You can block incoming attacks by using a Basic Attack, Redirect Skill, Support Skill, Ultimate, a perfectly timed Dodge/Riposte, or an Entry Attack when the on-screen cue flashes yellow. Successfully blocking an attack will stun your enemy, opening them up for a counterattack.
How to Dodge, Critical Dodge, and Critical Riposte in NTE
- A Dodge is when you simply step out of the way of an enemy attack by pressing the dodge key (RMB). This does not have any special animation. There is an internal cooldown to this making it so that you can only perform two consecutive dodges on any character in NTE.
- A Critical Dodge is when you dodge an enemy attack just as they’re about to hit you, triggering invincibility frames where you cannot be damaged. A successful Critical Dodge is indicated by a sound effect and a visual cue.
- A Critical Riposte or a Critical Dodge Counter is when you perform a Basic Attack directly after a Critical Dodge. This attack deals extra Break damage, making it a very effective way to deal damage.
Critical Dodge has a large window for activation to compensate for any delays caused by the server. You can actually activate it while inside an enemy attack, not just by dodging it – this gives you temporary invincibility frames and lets you immediately counter with a Riposte.
Critical Riposte automatically moves you towards the enemy you just dodged an attack from. This is really useful for quickly getting close to enemies who are quick and tend to move away after attacking.
