How to Play Baseball Cards in Mouse: P.I. For Hire (Rules)
Okay, so in Mouse: P.I. For Hire, the Baseball Cards mini-game is played over two innings, with five rounds each. Basically, you switch between being the batter and the pitcher. We each get five cards – they’re either Player cards or Tactic cards. You don’t have to play a Tactic card if you don’t want to, but they can really give your Player card a boost!
Each inning, players can discard two cards to swap out weaker ones, helping them get better Player cards or valuable Tactics cards.
Playing as the Batter
Players who hit, or batters, are judged on two key abilities: batting skill and speed. A strong batting skill is crucial because if a batter’s skill level exceeds the pitcher’s, they’ll automatically begin running to the closest base and become a runner instead of a batter.
When a player is running, they’ll advance a number of bases equal to their Speed stat. A player with strong Fielding skills can stop them. If a player’s Batting skill is significantly higher – three levels better – than the pitcher’s Pitching skill, the player will hit a home run.
Players can improve their Player cards’ pitching ability by using Tactic cards with a bat icon, and boost their speed with Tactic cards featuring a boot icon.
Playing as the Pitcher
Pitchers are judged on two abilities: pitching and fielding. If a pitcher’s pitching skill is better than the batter’s batting skill, the batter will fail to hit the ball and be out. If both skills are equal, a coin toss decides the outcome, and the winner of the toss loses the round.
Fielding Skill can stop runners from advancing. If a pitcher has a better Fielding Skill than the opposing runner, the runner will be forced to halt. This is determined by subtracting the pitcher’s Fielding Skill from the runner’s Speed.
The player with the highest score after both innings wins the Baseball Cards game and receives a Prize D-Spenser Token.
