Venturing into ancient, long-forgotten cities can be both thrilling and perilous. These urban relics are teeming with Sculk, making them hazardous to explore. For Minecraft players who dare to delve into the depths of darkness, understanding potential risks and rewards is crucial. This information will help them decide whether the journey is worth taking.
In older cities within Minecraft, you’ll encounter the fearsome Guardian – a formidable enemy that’s hard to defeat and considered the deadliest mob in the game. However, there’s a safe route for traversing these ancient locales, and strategies to prevent the Guardian from resurfacing again. Here are some practical suggestions to help players conquer their fears.
How to Find Ancient Cities in Minecraft
In Deep Dark cave biomes, you’ll only discover ancient cities at a depth of approximately -50 levels below ground. To locate these cities, start by venturing into a naturally occurring cave and delve deep within it. When you reach the appropriate depth, keep exploring. You’ll know you’re close to an ancient city if you hear peculiar music emanating from the area, accompanied by spooky Sculk blocks.
While not common, these cities aren’t extremely scarce either. If you persist in exploring enough natural caves while maintaining the right depth level, you’ll eventually stumble upon an ancient city. So keep digging and good luck on your quest!
Mobs cannot spawn in Ancient Cities.
How to Sneak Around the Ancient City
It’s crucial for gamers to tiptoe (or use Shift/R3) while navigating the Ancient City because running or walking at regular pace will trigger Sculk Sensor blocks, potentially summoning a Warden. To move stealthily in the Ancient City, players might find it helpful to gather some items such as carpets and wool. These materials are abundant within the city and can be effortlessly mined with Shears. The advantage of using these blocks is that they produce no sound when stepped on, allowing players to traverse on wool or construct stairs without setting off the Sculk Sensors’ detection system.
1. Wool serves a crucial purpose in disabling both Sculk Sensors and Sculk Shriekers since it obstructs their signals. This means that players can effectively cover either device with wool to render them inoperable.
2. Another important item for players is the Swift Sneak 3 enchantment, which can be found in the Ancient City as an Enchanted Book. This enhancement allows players to walk stealthily at a quicker pace, making it safer and more efficient for them to traverse the vast expanse of the Ancient City.
One reason gamers might strive to move silently through the Ancient City is due to the high number of Sculk Sensor blocks present. These sensors can pick up any sound, and if a Sculk Sensor is within 8 blocks of another block called the Sculk Shrieker, it will trigger that block. The Sculk Shrieker has four bone prongs and should be approached with caution as it’s responsible for activating the Warden when set off.
As a seasoned adventurer in the Ancient City, I’ve learned that treading carefully is key. Always be on the lookout for those pesky Sculk Sensors and Sculk Shriekers before you even think about opening any chests. And let me tell you, carrying plenty of Hoes is a game-changer! You see, the Hoe can swiftly disintegrate Sculk blocks, including those pesky Sensors and Shriekers. Once you’ve spotted one, snuff it out with some wool to quiet down any nearby Shriekers. Then, destroy the Sensor without worrying about triggering a screech. That’s how you navigate the Ancient City like a pro!
1. Obtain Blaze Powder and Glowstone Dust (crafted using glowstone).
2. Place these items in the Brewing Stand, along with water in the bottom potion bottle.
3. Apply Ignite (from a Blaze Rod) to the brew in the second potion bottle.
4. Once the brew is complete, carefully transfer it into a drinkable potion bottle.
5. Players can now use this Potion of Night Vision to explore the Ancient City with greater ease and safety.
- Use a Nether Wart in the Brewing Stand with a Water Bottle to make an Awkward Potion.
- Use a Golden Carrot to brew the Awkward Potion into Potion of Night Vision.
- Use a Redstone Dust to make the Potion of Night Vision last for 8 minutes.
As an enthusiast, I’d recommend establishing a humble sanctuary within the Ancient City, ensuring it’s safely distanced from the Sculk Sensors. This way, if misfortune strikes and I encounter the formidable Warden, I’ll have a secure respawn point in the form of a bed at my disposal.
How to Beat the Warden in Minecraft
Straight off the bat, it’s essential to understand that the Warden isn’t an enemy in Minecraft that players can defeat in combat. In fact, trying to fight the Warden is not advisable as it boasts a whopping 250 Health points and dishing out 8 Health points of damage with every strike, making it an opponent no player can conquer. If misfortune strikes and a player accidentally summons a Warden, the best course of action would be to flee. The reasoning behind this is that players shouldn’t dig down or construct upward structures because the Warden possesses a ranged attack capable of traversing over 26 blocks vertically and even penetrating walls.
When the Warden is being generated, it won’t spot players, so when a player sets off a Sculk Shrieker, they should dart in the opposite direction. Being 20 blocks or more distant offers the greatest safety, as the Warden can detect things from that range and follows by scent. After 60 seconds without detecting a player through either scent or sound, the Warden will disappear. Players will recognize it’s safe because the Darkness Effect will vanish. Although this effect can be bothersome, it can be mitigated by enhancing the brightness in the settings and placing torches to find a secure path away from the Warden.
