In Neverness to Everness, players can shoplift various small items from stores – everything from bags and snacks to oversized collectibles. You’ll find stealable items marked in red at convenience stores and DSD Pop shops. When you grab one, a quick minigame starts where you have to avoid being seen by the employees. It can be tricky, but there’s currently a way to steal items in NTE without any penalties.
How to Steal Items in NTE
Just focus on clicking or touching objects that have a red border around them. This guide will show you how using a DSD Pop Toys shop, but the same method works in any store where you can try to take items without paying.
When you try to shoplift something, a quick button-mashing game begins. You’ll eventually get a chance to steal the item if you succeed. I’ve found that choosing confident answers during the game makes the shop clerk less suspicious, while hesitant answers draw their attention. Try to pick the confident options as often as possible, but if you don’t get many, just put the item back and try stealing something else.
If you manage to steal something, a horned emoji will appear above your character. However, if the store clerk sees you for too long, they’ll confront you and make you pay. At least you won’t go to jail!
If you see the horned symbol, immediately remove the item from the store. Items near the exit are naturally easier to steal, so before you handle anything, position yourself for a quick escape.
If the store clerk is distracted by their phone, they won’t notice if you take something, even if you’re right in front of them. Take advantage of this moment to leave quickly.
Best Way to Steal Items in NTE
Surprisingly, the most effective way to “shoplift” in NTE is to intentionally get caught. When a clerk stops you for taking something, they’ll make you pay for it. While you’re doing that, look at the bottom of the item’s information on the right side of the screen and choose any of the DSD Pop Toys Shop locations listed. This will take you to the map, where you can then quickly travel to a desired location in Hethereau.
Okay, so it looks like the developers might not have intended for this to work, and they might fix it in a future update, but for now, here’s a trick I found. If you grab an item and immediately open your map and teleport, you can basically escape no matter what! The cool part is, you still keep whatever you stole, even if it looks like you got caught. It’s a pretty neat little exploit while it lasts.
Items you steal from these shops will reappear, though we don’t know exactly when. They probably become available again with the weekly reset that happens on Mondays.
