Crimson Desert is full of puzzles. You’ll constantly encounter challenging situations that require you to use your skills to overcome them, no matter where you explore in the game.
A quick way to travel around the game is by solving puzzles in old ruins. Solving these puzzles unlocks special teleportation points called Abyss Cressets, letting you instantly travel to those locations later. You can find one of these Cressets at the Duskwood Waterside Ruins.
Let’s break down how to solve the Duskwood Waterside Ruins puzzle in Crimson Desert.
Duskwood Waterside Ruins Location

You can find the Duskwood Waterside Ruins in northern Hernand. To get there, travel west from the main town and follow the river.
You can reach the Waterside Ruins by following the river. Alternatively, after completing the first part of chapter four, you can quickly travel there by using the Kilnden Workshop as a fast travel point.
You’ll need to repair the kiln and build a Kuku Pot. Head northwest from the Kilnden Workshop, and you’ll find the Waterside Ruins near the riverbank.
You’ll recognize the Duskwood Waterside Ruins by their unique appearance: the whole area is covered in black and white stones, resembling a checkerboard or Go board.
Duskwood Waterside Ruins Puzzle Solution
This board is for playing the game of Go. In Go, you win by controlling the most territory with your pieces.
Okay, so I’m looking at the puzzle and the river, and there’s this line of white stones on the left side of the board. But it’s not a solid line – it’s either got gaps in it, or these little crab things are blocking it.
When we first came here, a crab-like creature covered in moss was blocking the way, but it wasn’t there when we returned. If you find it, you can easily flip it over with a kick and it will run off. You can also choose to defeat it if you prefer.
Okay, so once you’ve dealt with that crab thing, head to the back of the puzzle area – you’ll see some little pillars and that Abyss Cresset. There’s a spare white stone hiding back there, so make sure you grab it!

You can solve this puzzle by placing the stone you’re holding into the empty space within the row of white stones. Alternatively, you can move the white stone that’s just to the left of the row into that same empty space.
Both options successfully solve the puzzle. We’ve tested other pieces, and it seems only these two will work.
Once I finished up there, I could finally talk to the Abyss Cresset by the river, and that unlocked the area as a place I can fast travel to – super convenient!
