In the game Mouse: P.I. For Hire, players investigate mysteries and discover hidden treasures. To access secret areas or open locked safes, they’ll need to learn “tailpicking” – the game’s version of lockpicking.
This guide explains the tailpicking mechanic in Mouse: P.I. For Hire, helping players learn how to open even the most difficult and stuck locks.
How to Tailpick in Mouse: P.I. For Hire
In Mouse: P.I. For Hire, picking locks by ‘tailpicking’ requires players to touch all the springs inside and then move to the lock’s far side. These puzzles start off easy, but become increasingly challenging as you play.
Okay, so sometimes in this game you come across springs that launch you into really narrow areas. It can be tricky because it’s easy to get stuck! If I bounce into a dead end, I usually have to hit the ‘Undo’ button and try a different route. It’s a little frustrating, but you get used to it.
Some locks have timers or spikes that make them harder to pick. If you don’t pick these locks quickly enough, or hit a spike, they’ll become permanently jammed and unopenable. There’s no way to fix a jammed lock, but you can always reload from your last save if you make a mistake.
