How to Unlock All Characters in Vampire Crawlers

Vampire Crawlers uses the characters you know from Vampire Survivors, but with a twist! Because this game is a turn-based, first-person adventure, those characters have completely different abilities and ways to unlock them. They’ll need to learn new combat techniques to make it through each dungeon.

Okay, so it’s kinda like Vampire Survivors – when you pick your character in Vampire Crawlers, you start with a specific weapon. But you quickly unlock a ton more! What’s cool is each character is also a card you can play during a battle. Playing a character card gives your whole team a special boost, which is awesome for getting through tough spots.

That’s right, you can bring up to three characters with you on a dungeon run. However, this feature needs to be unlocked first by purchasing it from the Power-Up shop. Having three characters is a big help, especially when tackling the final two dungeons.

The game explains how to get a handful of Vampire Crawler characters in the Unlocks section, but the requirements for the others aren’t always clear. Luckily, players who’ve completed the game have figured out how to unlock every hero and are sharing that information.

How to Unlock Every Vampire Crawlers Character

You’ll start with Antonio Belpaese, and many players will choose him first, followed closely by Imelda. Here’s a complete list of all the playable characters in Vampire Crawlers:

Pasqualina Belpaese Reach level 20 with Imelda in the Inlaid Library Add 10 Area when Pasqualina is played. Increase Hand by 1 when a purple card is played.
Gennaro Belpaese Defeat the Mantis boss in the Furious Forest Add 2 Amount when Gennaro is played. Deal 60 damage when a red card is played.
Arca Ladonna Use the Fire Wand card 100 times Add 3 Mana when Arca is played. Add 1 Mana when a purple card is played.
Porta Ladonna Use the Lightning Ring card 100 times Add 25 Area when Porta is played. Add 1 Mana when a red card is played.
Lama Ladonna Complete a dungeon with 10% Curse or more Increase damage 50% when Lama is played. Increase damage 155 when a blue card is played.
Poe Ratcho Use the Garlic card 100 times Add 20 Area when Poe is played. Draw 1 card when a blue card is played.
Dommario Collect 5000 Coins Gain 2 Duration when a Dommario is played. Deal 40 damage when a purple card is played.
Krochi Freeto Defeat 6666 enemies Add 10 Revival when Krochi is played. Add 5 Revival when a Wild card is played.
Christine Davain Find a Pentagram card. These are unlocked when a Crawler reaches level 40 during a run. Reduce Mana cost of next card played by 1 when Christine is played. Prevent 1 enemy from attacking when a purple card is played.
Pugnala Provola Found in a Coffin on the 3rd floor of the Berserk Forest Increase damage 20% when Pugnala is played. Draw 1 card when a yellow card is played.
Poppea Pecorina Found in a Coffin on Floor 5 of the Milk Factory Increase Hand by 1 hen Poppea is played. Gain 1 Duration when a yellow card is played.
Concetta Caciotta Found in a Coffin on Floor 3 of the Gallo Tower Add 10 Area when Concetta is played. Add 5 Area when a red card is played.
Yatta Cavallo Defeat 250 Lion Heads in Inlaid Library Add 2 Amount when Cavallo is played. Add 1 Amount when a yellow card is played.
O’Sole Meeo Defeat 50 Dragon Shrimps in Gallo Tower Add 3 Amount when O’Sole is played. Add 5 Luck when a red card is played.
Mortaccio Defeat 444 Skeletons Add 2 Amount when Mortaccio is played. Add 1 Amount when a blue card is played.
Bianca Ramba Defeat the Milk Elemental in the Dairy Plant Add 3 Amount when Ramba is played. Add 1 Amount when a purple card is played.
Svor Clerici Recover 1000 hit points Heal 3 when Clerici is played. Heal 1 after encounter when a blue card is played.
Giovanni Grana Found in a Coffin on the third floor of the Library Sanctum Add 20 Luck when Giovanna is played. Draw 1 card when a purple card is played.
Iguana Gallo Valleto Defeated at the end of the Gallo Tower Gain 25% more coins when Gallo is played. Gain 10% more coins when a Wild card is played.

Christine is the hardest character to unlock in the game. You won’t be able to access her until you reach level 40 in a single playthrough. Getting to that level requires increasing the Curse stat, which also makes enemies more challenging.

Okay, so Gallo is a real pain. He’s at the very end of this long dungeon, and like most bosses, he just loves to take extra turns and hit you super hard. Honestly, you have to beat him if you want to see the end of the game – he’s blocking the way to the final areas, so he’s not a fight you can skip.

The bar area currently has some empty spots, hinting that the game will get more playable characters later on. The developers have also announced that they’re planning to add new content after launch, so those spaces won’t be used immediately.

Some heroes, like Krochi, might have high kill counts, but that’s because Vampire Crawlers throws a lot of enemies at you. Heroes unlocked by specific monsters, such as Mortaccio, are surprisingly easy to get, and the item-based heroes (with the exception of Christine) aren’t much harder, since players will naturally use a wide variety of weapons throughout the game.
