How to Unlock Mecha Workers in Crimson Desert

In Crimson Desert, you can create a whole robot army to help the Greymanes with missions. This lets you expand your team beyond the usual 37+ members. Building these robot Greymanes is surprisingly easy and doesn’t require a lot of resources – we’ll guide you through the process below.

You can’t create Grey-0 Comrades until you’ve finished Chapter 10, and you’ll need to do so specifically at the Dewhaven Research Institute in Dewhaven Keep. Before that, you’ll also have to complete a difficult battle to free Marni’s Steel Armory from the Mechanicus.

How to Unlock Grey-0 Comrades in Crimson Desert

  • To unlock Grey-0, you need to first unlock the correct research path with Heinrik in Dewhaven Keep.
  • You need to unlock the Chaya Research at the Dewhaven Research Institute, which we’ve marked on the map above.
  • In order to actually unlock this research, you must first complete “Electricity – Movement Conversion Mechanism Research”, which you can start from the Rustfield Scrapyard, but you can also check the “Dewhaven Research Institute” tab in the “Ironwheel of Dewhaven Faction Quests” section.
  • After around 8 in-game hours during the Chaya Research, the research will stop.

  • To resume the research, speak with the Dewhaven Institute Research Assistant at the Windrose Farm (shown above).
  • You will now need to collect x1 Chaya, which can be collected from the area shown above in the Beardtree Hills. Alternatively, you can purchase Chaya Seeds from the Grocer in the City of Pailune and grow them in your Camp’s garden.
  • After giving the x1 Chaya back to the Dewhaven Institute Research Assistant, research will resume, and it will automatically complete after another 8 in-game hours.

How to Craft Grey-0 Comrades in Crimson Desert

  • You can now craft Grey-0 Comrades at the Marni’s Steel Armory (shown above).
  • This location needs to first be liberated, which can be a challenge, as the Mechanicus boss fight can be found here.
  • Select Triangle/Y when hovering over Marni’s Steel Armory on the map and press R1/RB to reach the “Missions” tab.
  • Select “Craft Mecha Worker”, which requires the following resources/currency:

Required Currency Camp Weapons/Armor x5,000 Camp Timber x1,000 Camp Food x2,000 Camp Funds x10,000

Once you’ve played for 4 hours, you’ll unlock a Grey-0 Comrade who can join Ross on Dispatch Missions at Howling Hill Camp.

How Do the Grey-0 Comrades Work in Crimson Desert?

  • Grey-0 can be crafted infinitely.
  • These robot Comrades will always be built with the same Miner skills.
  • You can put Grey-0 onto any project, but with Level 3 Grey-0, you will earn a +60% rewards to Mining missions.
  • You should only put Grey-0s on mining missions, and never on attack missions, as although they have 1,120 Health, they also have 45 Attack and 85 Defense, with no weapon to help them.
