How to Steal Mortal Rope Dart With Skill Theft

    Requirement: Skill Theft

Okay, so I went over to the Nine Mortal Ways Sect Martial Hall in Kaifeng City – it’s marked on the map. I tried to walk right in through the front door, but a guard stopped me. He basically told me only students of the Sect are allowed inside, so I’m stuck for now!

Go around to the side of the house across from the Martial Hall’s entrance and look for a Mysterious Elder. They’ll tell you that the only way to get into the Martial Hall is to disguise yourself as one of the Sect’s disciples.

The game will now tell you to “Draw a portrait for Muddle.” Muddle is a member of a group who’s hanging out near the Martial Hall, and you can take on their identity to get inside. Just follow the on-screen directions to find him.

If you’re new to using disguises, you’ll need to finish the quest “Disguise: Veil of Love” first to unlock the feature. Simply look at Muddle and press the ‘G’ key, and the quest will automatically be added to your Journal.

To begin the “Disguise: Veil of Love” quest, head to the Fairgrounds in Kaifeng, following the quest marker on your screen. Once there, speak with Wuyan, the owner of the Disguise Shop, who will ask you to talk to Qiao Sanlang about the person he’s in love with.

Walk up to Qiao Sanlang near the shop. Activate your Wind Sense (V), point the camera at him, and click the Middle Mouse button to open the request menu. Choose the Jade Satchet and then select Request.

After Qiao turns down your request, go back to Wuyan. She’ll ask you to pretend to be the person Fang Wenxui is in love with. Then, follow the on-screen directions to find Fang Wenxui and paint her portrait.

Head back to Wuyan and transform into Wang Feixiu. After you’ve changed, speak to Qiao Sanlang again and ask for the Jade Satchet. This time, you’ll definitely get it! Finally, return to Wuyan to finish the quest.

Locate the Jade Satchet in the ‘Common Items’ section of your bag and use it to get a new, free accessory for your character’s appearance.

Once you’ve learned the disguise skill, head back to Muddle and have your portrait drawn. Then, visit Wuyan at the Disguise Shop to put on the disguise. Follow the on-screen directions to return to the Martial Hall and enter. You should now be able to go inside without being stopped.

While disguised as Muddle—or anyone else—you’re unable to use any special abilities like fighting skills, magic, or even jumping.

Pan Shui won’t let you into the inner yard without a core disciple’s token. Luckily, you can find a disciple named Tiancai in the nearby kitchen who might be able to help you get one.

Once you have the token, go into the inner yard and find Elder Tian to get the Rope Dart. Then, go to the yard to play the skill theft minigame, which will unlock the Rope Dart’s special abilities.

Once you’ve successfully stolen the skill, head to the backyard. You can get there by going through the side door in Elder Tian’s room, where you’ll find the Mysterious Elder and finish the quest.

Visiting the Ghostlight Market, as the Mysterious Elder suggests, will allow you to become a member of the Nine Mortal Ways Sect.
