How to Win All Flag Races in Echoes of Wisdom

As a seasoned player with countless hours under my belt, I can confidently say that mastering the Flag Race courses in Echoes of Wisdom is no walk in the park. The Long Course, in particular, requires a steady hand and quick reflexes to navigate its twists and turns.

In “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,” Zelda engages in various mini-games to relax from Hyrule’s rift issue. She encounters dream tasks at the Slumber Dojo and picks mangoes at the Tough Mango Lab, among other activities. The mini-game we’ll focus on is called the “Hyrule Ranch Flag Race.

The Hyrule Ranch Flag Races, found at their expected location – Hyrule Ranch, are a unique mini-game where Zelda and her horse compete against time on three distinctive tracks. Our goal is to help you win each Flag Race in Echoes of Wisdom, providing details about the rewards you’ll receive upon success.

How to Start the Flag Races:

To unlock the Flag Races in Echoes of Wisdom, Zelda must first complete the “Still Missing” main quest, and the “Impa’s Gift” side quest. “Still Missing” takes place after “Searching for Everyone,” once the Jabul Ruins and Gerudo Sanctum dungeons have been cleared. In “Impa’s Gift,” Zelda will gain access to her classic White Horse, which is required to start the Flag Races.

Participation in the Flag Races is not permitted using horses rented from Echoes of Wisdom. Should Zelda attempt to use the rental horses, she will be asked by the race supervisor to bring her personal White Horse instead.

After Zelda gets her White Horse, make your way to Hyrule Ranch, which lies in the western expanse of Hyrule Field. In the heart of the ranch stands a substantial farmhouse where Fresh Milk is available for purchase. Look for the female Non-Player Character (NPC) on the eastern side of this house.

Interact with the NPC while Zelda is riding her horse, and engage in conversation with her. She proposes a race challenge to Zelda. Before accepting, Zelda can gather initial details about the races. The NPC clarifies that there are three different tracks available, and the objective is for Zelda to locate every Flag on each track within the given time limit.

Each attempt at the Flag Race will cost Zelda 10 Rupees.

How to Master the Flag Race Short Course – Echoes of Wisdom

The initial Flag Race track that Zelda can participate in is called the Beginner’s Course. Upon encountering the Flag Race Non-Player Character (NPC), Zelda will initiate your character on the Beginner’s Course automatically.

Short Course, Explained:

  • Basic Goal: Under 23 Seconds
  • Master Goal: Under 17 Seconds

The Brief Training Event features six Challenges and takes place on the circuit situated along the ranch’s perimeter. Throughout this event, Zelda will need to maneuver through various obstacles. When you come across a series of boxes that fully obstruct the path, trust that the horse has the ability to clear them. For the fundamental objective, conserve your Dash. Use it only on open stretches. To achieve the Master objective, you’ll need to develop a keen sense of when to employ the Dash. To aid in this, we are providing a video tutorial for each course, as observing the techniques can make mastery more straightforward.

In the brief training session, the aim is to sprint immediately when the starting signal sounds. Whenever possible, sprint along the straight sections. However, never sprint during turns because there’s a high likelihood of colliding with the barrier or coming to a halt.

Short Course Rewards:

  • Short Course Basic Reward: Red Rupee (20)
  • Short Course Master Reward: 3 Might Crystals
  • Short Course Recurring Reward: Radiant Butter (Basic x1, Master x2)

How to Master the Flag Race Middle Course – Echoes of Wisdom

Middle Course, Explained

  • Basic Goal: Under 25 Seconds
  • Master Goal: Under 20 Seconds

In the Middle Level, you’ll find 5 Markers. This level extends beyond Hyrule Ranch’s eastern border, offering a more challenging yet manageable experience. Mastering this course is doable for most players after a few attempts if they’ve already conquered the shorter version. The trick lies in knowing when to use the Dash. Since there are numerous sharp curves ahead, be cautious about using Dash while navigating turns. Instead, utilize it effectively as you exit significant turns. For a visual guide, check out the video above showcasing a full run of the Middle Level.

The images provided demonstrate instances where it’s appropriate to employ the Dash during a mid-race course. Avoid using it from the starting point; instead, use it after passing through the first flag. Use it again while traversing the straightway with trees, then do so again upon approaching the box jumps. Lastly, utilize it one more time prior to turning towards the finish line.

  • Middle Course Basic Reward: Prismatic Music Box (for Dampé Automaton creation)
  • Middle Course Master Reward: Heart Piece
  • Middle Course Recurring Reward: Fresh Milk (Basic x1, Master x3)

How to Master the Flag Race Long Course – Echoes of Wisdom

Long Course, Explained:

  • Basic Goal: Under 50 Seconds
  • Master Goal: Under 40 Seconds

The Long Track consists of 8 markers, and its layout is substantially bigger, incorporating the Medium track into the Small track, although the positions of the challenges are distinct. For a complete walkthrough, refer to the video guide provided above.

In long races, it’s crucial once more to employ Strategic Acceleration, but the fundamental objective remains lenient. Achieving mastery over the final stretch can be tough. Just as with the Middle track, don’t accelerate until you’ve passed the initial checkpoint. Then, wait to accelerate again until you’ve navigated the sharp bend following the second checkpoint.

For now, try not to speed ahead until you pass the next race segment, which is after the third flag. Proceed steadily until you reach the fifth flag, then accelerate while turning towards the ranch. After getting back on the track, you’ll need to increase your speed only during straight stretches, as the turns might be challenging.

  • Basic Reward: Purple Rupee (50)
  • Master Reward: Charging Horn (Horse Attack Up)
  • Recurring Reward: Fresh Milk (Basic x3, Master x5)
