How to Win Races in NTE

As soon as I unlocked City Tycoon in Neverness to Everness, the game really came to life! There are so many new hobbies to try – fishing, doing deliveries, all sorts of things. But honestly, nothing beats the thrill of racing! It’s seriously addictive.

Racing is a really enjoyable activity in NTE, and it’s a fantastic way to earn Fons and improve your City Tycoon! Want to know how to unlock Race Challenges and start racing? Check out our guide below to find out!

How to Unlock Races in NTE (Neverness to Everness)

Okay, so if you want to start racing, you gotta hit City Tycoon level 2 first. Don’t worry, you’ll get there just by playing the game and earning Fons as usual. Oh, and one important thing – you need a car to race. Forget about trying to use a motorbike, it won’t work!

During the Legendary Driver quest, you can earn a free car. If you don’t get one then, or if you’d like a different vehicle, you can purchase a car from any dealership in the city with Fons.

How to Race in NTE (Neverness to Everness)

Okay, so you finally got a car – awesome! But it’s gonna need some TLC eventually. Luckily, I found that repair shops are all over the map, marked with a little car and wrench symbol. Just drive up to one of those and you can get your ride fixed up!

Only fix your car if you’ve been driving it. If it’s still new and hasn’t been used, you can skip the repair steps.

After getting your car fixed, return to City Tycoon and go to Hethereau Hobbies. Then, choose ‘Challenge Races’ to find three different racing options.

  • Challenge (Race against NPCs)
  • Online (Race against real players)
  • Friends (Race against your friends online)

To compete in online races, you’ll need to reach Hunter level 12. If you want to race specifically with friends, you’ll need to be at least Hunter level 17.

Race Difficulty Levels in NTE

Next, you can choose between six difficulty modes of the race challenge:

  • Sunday (8 PM–8 AM)
  • Coastal Drift (6 PM–6 AM)
  • Full Throttle (12 PM–12 AM)
  • Meridian (10 PM–10 AM)
  • Tempestas (4 PM–4 AM)
  • Uncrowned King (7 PM–7 AM)

Sunday and Coastal Drift are the most beginner-friendly tracks, making them a great place to start. They’re pretty easy to learn and help you get comfortable with racing. However, as you progress and unlock new modes, the challenges increase significantly. You’ll encounter tracks that demand precise control with their tight turns, and others that focus on sheer speed and long stretches of road.

Once you’ve set up your race, you can adjust the time of day and weather conditions. While racing in the rain or snow might sound exciting, it makes the driving more challenging because your car won’t grip the road as well. If you’re using a standard vehicle, we suggest sticking with a sunny day for easier handling.

Once you’re ready, look for the flag icon on your map and follow it. It will lead you directly to the racing team captain, and speaking with them will register you for the race.

Racing Objectives and Rewards in NTE (Neverness to Everness)

Race Challenges have straightforward goals – mainly to finish first. Your rewards, like Flags and Fons, are based on how well you do.

  • Win the race.
  • Cross the finish line with a 50+ meter lead over 2nd place.
  • Cross the finish line with a 100+ meter lead over 2nd place.

You earn one Flag for completing each objective, and you can earn up to three Flags per race. Every three Flags you collect rewards you with 20 Annulith and 5,000 Fons. This continues until you’ve earned 18 Flags in a single difficulty. You can collect all your rewards from the Star Reward section.

If you don’t come in first place, you won’t get the rewards for that race. Because of this, if you have a poor start, it’s generally better to restart and try again instead of continuing with a run that’s unlikely to succeed.

Best Tips for Racing in NTE (Neverness to Everness)

Okay, so I’ve been there – those race challenges can be tough. But honestly, it usually boils down to a few key things. I’ve figured out some tips that really helped me, and I wanted to share them. Hopefully, they’ll help you crush it too!

Get a Fast Car

In racing, your car is the most important factor. Dealerships offer a variety of options, and you’ll probably start with the C2000. It’s good for simpler races like Sunday and Coastal Drift, but as you progress to harder challenges, you’ll find it isn’t fast enough. To keep winning, you’ll eventually need to upgrade it.

What’s the Best Car for NTE Races?

The Pendragon is definitely among the fastest race cars available. I compared it to others at several dealerships, and its top speed of 202 mph is impressive. However, it comes with a hefty price tag of 12,000,000 Fons. You can find it for sale at Regalia Car Dealership.

Okay, so the Pendragon is amazing, but let’s be real, it’s pricey! If you’re looking for something a little more attainable, the Pursuit V8 is a fantastic choice. It’s still super fast – topping out at 180 – and it can actually take a beating even better than the Pendragon! You can grab it at the Regalia dealership for 4,000,000 Fons. If you’re struggling to save up, don’t worry, there’s a guide out there to help you find all the best and safest spots to farm Fons in NTE.

Car Repairs and Modification

I always check my car’s condition before each race. The game usually reminds you to make repairs, and it’s cheap to do so. Fixing it up boosts your car’s performance, so it’s definitely worth it.

As you race more often, upgrading your car becomes a good idea. You can visit any auto parts shop in town and speak to the shopkeeper to access the upgrade menu.

Okay, so after that, you’ll want to head over to the ‘Modifications’ tab. That’s where you can start tweaking things on your ride. I honestly didn’t pay much attention to the tires at first, but man, were the default ones slippery when the weather turned bad! I finally upgraded them, and seriously, the improvement was instant. It made a huge difference!

Pay Close Attention to the Track Map

A mini-map is located in the top left corner of the screen during races. It’s easy to miss when you’re concentrating on driving, but it’s really helpful for knowing when turns are coming up – especially tight ones. Even in simpler modes like Sunday and Coastal Drift, there are a few turns that can surprise you.

Slow Down Before Turns

Some lessons you just have to learn through experience. I realized that taking turns too quickly often leads to problems, so I began to ease off the gas and maintain better control of the car.

Avoid bumping into other cars whenever possible. Collisions can slow you down and hurt your performance. I’ve lost races because of repeated crashes that significantly reduced my speed.
