The latest installment of Inio Asano’s manga, MUJINA INTO THE DEEP, appeared in the ninth issue of Shogakukan’s Big Comic Superior magazine. It announced that a second season is planned for release in 2027.
The creator of the manga Goodluck Punpun recently explained on X (formerly Twitter) that the long gap between parts of the series is because they were feeling burnt out and had run out of ideas. However, they also announced a new, shorter manga series is planned for release later this year.
About MUJINA INTO THE DEEP
This thrilling series celebrates over-the-top action and takes place in a shadowy world. It follows young women, known as Mujina, who have no rights and live outside normal society. They work as skilled assassins and spies – essentially, modern ninja.
The initial arc of the manga MUJINA INTO THE DEEP concluded in January. The sixth and final volume of this first arc will be released by Shogakukan on May 29th. Since its debut in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Superior in March 2023, the series has also been published in English by VIZ Media, with the fourth English volume arriving on May 19th. The team behind MUJINA INTO THE DEEP includes designer Shawn Carrico, known for work on titles like Ayashimon, Dragon Ball Super, and Jiangshi X. Editor Pancha Diaz, who has worked on BLEACH, NANA, and Ōoku: The Inner Chambers, also brings her experience as a creative consultant on popular anime such as Naruto, NANA, and Death Note. Annaliese Christman contributes touch-up art and lettering, having previously worked on Rooster Fighter and Solanin.
