Spoilers for Amazon’s Invincible Show and the Recently Released Invincible VS Fighting Game Ahead
Before the launch of Invincible VS, Quarter Up and Skybound Games announced that the game would feature 18 playable characters. However, Angstrom Levy is a significant character who didn’t make the cut. While it was disappointing to learn his ability to travel between dimensions wouldn’t be included in the gameplay, the game’s story mode actually highlights his absence in a more frustrating way.
It’s been a while since fans have seen the character Angstrom Levy in the Invincible universe. The release of Invincible VS shortly after the Season 4 finale wasn’t accidental, but surprisingly, Angstrom Levy was nowhere to be found in either. He’s currently preoccupied with a deal he made with some technicians, which prevents him from acting on his intense desire for revenge against Mark. Angstrom’s hatred is a defining characteristic, so his absence in Invincible VS is particularly noticeable, considering how central he should be to the story.
Invincible VS’s Story Mode Basically Leans on Angstrom Levy’s In-Universe Identity
The Story Mode in Invincible VS reveals that Mark Grayson, several Guardians, other heroes, and even some Viltrumites have been captured. They’re held inside a dome that causes them to see illusions of enemies, and it turns out the Technicians are behind it all. The Technicians are draining energy from their battles, strongly hinting at the involvement of Angstrom Levy. The story mode explains his continued existence and presence in the show, but doesn’t offer any in-universe reason why he isn’t actively participating in the conflict.

The ending of Invincible VS‘s Story Mode leaves players with a shocking cliffhanger: Earth is being mined by the Technicians. This likely ties into a scheme orchestrated by Angstrom Levy. Even if the Technicians are acting independently, it’s difficult to believe Levy isn’t somehow involved, and his lack of presence throughout the story now feels particularly upsetting.
One positive thing coming from recent news about Invincible VS is the potential for exciting new characters. A reliable source, MultiverSusie, suggests Angstrom Levy will be added in the future. Additionally, Quarter Up has confirmed Immortal, Universa, The Mauler Twins, Agent Spider, Damien Darkblood, Oliver, Dinosaurus, and Volcanikka are also planned. While not certain, these additions could be a good step forward for the game.

It would be great if future downloadable characters came with new story content. The current story mode ends very suddenly, but it’s clear how those characters could fit in. The story could lead players to a final battle with Angstrom Levy, but also involve Dinosaurus and Volcanikka as a result of the mining damage. Regardless, the story’s ending doesn’t make sense without Angstrom being involved at all.
