Is Helping the Cabbage Thief in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Worth It?

As a devoted follower of the Kingdom Come: Deliverance saga, I found myself pondering over one of its most eccentric missions – the Cabbage Thief’s escapade. The question that lingered was whether to aid this peculiar character with a penchant for pilfering cabbages. Here are some intriguing spoilers about him and more!

Deliverance 2’s quirkiest missions – the quest involving the Cabbage Thief. You might wonder if you should lend a helping hand to this unusual character who has a habit of swiping cabbages. Ahead lies some fascinating information about his identity and more!

In the upcoming game Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, one peculiar character is the Cabbage Thief, similar to Riddler Barley. Your actions can significantly decide whether he persists as a nuisance for farmers across the land or if his mischief comes to an end upon being identified.

How to start the cabbage thief quest

Following a conversation with Bailiff Thrush in Troskowitz, where you inquire about the current town affairs, the quest will be recorded in your journal.

Since the identity and whereabouts of the cabbage thief remain unknown, I’m afraid I can’t provide you with a specific compass direction to track him down. Instead, it’s up to you to put on your detective hat and solve the mystery yourself!

If you’ve embarked on the Bad Blood quest, chances are you’ve encountered the cabbage thief by now, with his location already pinpointed on your map for convenience. However, if that’s not the case, you’ll be tasked with finding him. The trail to his whereabouts will be as clear as a line of cabbages left behind!

Your initial hint will come from the man often seen near the Grocer, who resides south of Troskowitz. You can reach him swiftly by teleporting to Semine first, and then proceeding eastward until you reach the intersection, which is exactly where the Grocer’s shop is situated.

He’ll provide you with another hint. This suggests that you should move in a southerly direction from your current position, and keep an eye out for a path marked by cabbages. Continue following this trail until you arrive at ‘Cabbage Cave’.

You’ll find this place nestled in a sunlit glade, situated southwest of the local grocer. Just follow the path of cabbages, and it will guide you straight there.

Should you turn him in?

As I step into Cabbage Cave, my eyes lock onto an unexpected figure – none other than Sauerkraut Pepa, a familiar face from my journey so far! Whether we’ve crossed paths before or not in this adventure depends on the choices I made during my gameplay.

Pepa intends to share his motive for taking cabbages with Henry. You then have the option to either choose to ignore his actions of stealing cabbages, report him to the law enforcement, or take a more drastic step like confronting him physically.

If you choose to release him, he’ll give you some sauerkraut as a token of gratitude, and you can return for more if you wish. On the other hand, transforming Pepa into a bailiff will earn you a substantial 789 Groschen – a considerable amount of money in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

In the end, you can eliminate him, ransack his possessions and his lair, and still receive the reward money. Yet, Pepa is a fighter and won’t go quietly. You won’t be held accountable for murder either. The problem is, Pepa doesn’t possess much of value to loot, so it’s more straightforward to claim the reward money and hand him over instead.

As a gamer, I find it’s smart to rat out Pepe to the authorities at the start, given that 789 Groschen can open up quite a few options early in the game. However, some players might decide to look past his crimes and reap the benefits of his delicious sauerkraut again.

In essence, you have the option to promise to maintain his confidentiality, procure your sauerkraut, and subsequently eliminate him, but doing so will prevent you from receiving further rewards. However, you’re still eligible for the reward money after he’s been eliminated.

In KCD2, there’s often no single correct choice; you must decide based on what seems best to you. Although turning Pepe over could yield more rewards (considering he’s breaking the law), we found it engaging to keep him as an NPC character. Additionally, his sauerkraut proved handy when food supplies were running low.

To kick off your adventure in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, one of the initial steps you might want to take is locating your trusty dog and steed, as they’ll greatly facilitate your journey. Additionally, it’s advantageous to familiarize yourself with the whereabouts of Mutt early on and learn how to secure a complimentary bed for yourself when the opportunity arises.
